Here's an RitR question that came up in one my campaigns:

A player wants to retire their fleet that includes Vader (squadron), but would then like to take a new fleet with Vader (officer). Is this possible? Or have all instances of Vader been eliminated from the campaign?

All instances of Vader.

The game doesn’t differentiate - unique is unique, and that unique is eliminated.
