Assign - Apply - Deal Damage versus Toughness & Cancel ?

By 1815Baersson, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Hi,

According to the rules, damage during the Battlefield Phase will first be Assigned and then, after damage preventing actions, be Applied .
We found so far two damage preventing actions, namely with the word "Toughness" or "Cancel" in the text.

Assuming we assign 2 damage to a unit:

  1. If the unit has Toughness 1 , there will be 1 damage prevented before the then remaining 1 damage will be applied.
    Correct?
  2. If the unit has " Cancel 1 damage " in the textbox, there will also just be 1 damage applied.
    Correct?
  3. If I have a unit (e.g dwarves ranger) that Deal 1 damage, we assume so far that :
    - In case of Toughness 1 , this is a damage that will directly be applied, since it is not assigned before and therefore Toughness will not come into play
    - In case of " Cancel 1 damage ", this damage based on "deal 1 damage" will NOT be applied since it states to cancel a damage.
    Correct?

Please give us some advice since we start to get really lost in all that damage discussion.

Best Regards

Those are correct.

All damage is applied and assigned. Difference between combat and non-combat damage is that the latter has no Action window between assign and apply, instead it is applied right away. But Toughness/cancelling still work.

Now I got it ......thanks a lot.
