Questions concerning managing a new career

By Apollwn, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hello guys

I am really new to these games and have never before played any RPG before. In fact I am still reading the rulebook to find out how to play. There are a couple of things I cannot understand. I will be very grateful to you if you can help me.

1)After finishing a career, and moving to a new one, can I use my previous talents from my previous career? the actions that I have gained and all the bonuses that I have acquired from my previous career?

2)In case I have spent some advances of my previous career in increasing some of my characteristics, will that be taken into consideration when moving to a new career after I have completed my previous one?

3)Is 3 trains the maximum trains I can have on any skill? and also is there a limitation in the specializations I can apply to a skill? In Addition after I have finished my 1st career and decide to move to a new one, Are the specilisations and trains taken into consideration, when I am going to role dices while I am playing with my new career?

And If I cannot carry any of the bonuses I have gained through my past career, what's the point in moving into a new one?

You may find these questions stupid because they might be simple, but I am really confused : (

Thank you in advance for your understanding

I am looking forward to any replies

If that career has the appropriate talent slot, yes. And if it doesn't, you might still be able to slot that talent into a slot on the party sheet.

What do you mean by this? If you've already have 8 career advances used, and want to increase a primary characteristic of that career to 4 (2 too many, considering the maximum number of career advances is 10), can you do that for 4 points? Or would it count as a non-career advance? Is that what you want to know?

I admit I don't know. Personally I'm not going to restrict my players to only 10 career advances, so it's not a problem to me. But if you stick to the letter of the rules, this could indeed be a problem, and count as a non-career advance.

Yes to all questions, I think. You can only train a particular skill 3 times, and only once per career. So of course your trained skills remain valid in your new career, or you'd never be able to reach 3. Specialisations also remain. The only thing you can lose when you chance career, is your special career ability if you don't get the dedication bonus. (You change to a new career without completing the first one, for example.)

There wouldn't be any. That's why you keep your skills and abilities. What makes you think you might lose them?

Thanks a lot for replying to my post. I think now, I found the answers I was looking for gui%C3%B1o.gif
