6 damage for 3 is definitely low for a signature card but it is extremely versatile. It's not my favorite card in the set, but that's okay. Covert Ops is so bonkers good that it makes up for it.

She does get 1 damage for every Preparation she triggers while in hero form though, so I expect she’ll be able to pink for plenty of damage across a game. Between Dance if Death and her hero ability not being limited to once per turn tough and stun don’t look likely pose much of a threat to her...

I didn't even think about that!

Rhino III: "You're all stunned."

BW: "Cool story, bro." *plays Dance of Death and uses first attack to get rid of stun, uses other two attacks to slap Rhino in the face with a folding chair WWE-style, then activates a bunch of Preparations, just to rub salt in the wound*

One note is that her response just deals damage but Dance Of Death is three separate attacks. So it might be a bit hazardous to Dance Of Death an enemy with Retaliate. She does only have 9 HP. Though you can safely ping them down with Widowmaker. That said she seems like she will be great at clearing minions.

I like Dance of Death. Yeah it's not as big a bomb as other hero big damage cards, but she shouldn't bit hitting as hard as a Hulk or Captain Marvel. Also there are really very few crowd clearing cards. Dance can really fix a board state flooded with minions where other cards like Swinging Web Kick would be overkill and would be better spent on just knocking the villain down. Also the ability to overcome Stun and Tough is fantastic.

Covert Ops is insane but she honestly should be that good at Thwarting considering the character.

There is that. M.O.D.O.K. would be absolutely terrible to use Dance of Death on. But on the whole I really like it. I can think of a several times it would have been incredibly handy when I've been playing.

That was exactly the scenario I thought about as well. MODOK was hard enough even with heroes with haymaker effects. Widow will probably struggle with him I think. That said I also love the effect and think there are more scenarios where it's good rather than bad. right now MODOK is the exception. More often you just get a ton of weenies that need to be cleared or they wreck you in aggregate.

But let us remind ourselves that playing around heroes' weaknesses is what we are supposed to do. That is simply what I would call "playing the game". 😃

No I agree. Having a weak point makes playing the hero more interesting since it gives you something to play around. As an Arkham player I embrace the idea of every hero having a weak point. I almost think they should be more dramatic in this game, but then again a hero game should feel empowering where a horror game can get away with being more punishing.

Are you the one responsible for that spreadsheet on Google Docs? I love that thing!

Dare I ask where you heard about it, if it wasn't here?

Stupid double post.

I'm not sure. It probably was here, but I've had it pulled up in my browser to reference for so long that I've forgotten. 😕

One thing I would suggest (though I realize this might become way too complicated as the pool increases) is to have tabs for the different types of cards (ally, event, support, upgrade). Or maybe just for the different aspects. It was just a thought I had when I wanted to look through the allies.

I have a set of filters on, are they not available for others?

Since the thread title still fits, might as well keep it here...

We’ve got another hero announcement livestream tomorrow! Presumably the next release after Black Widow, which has been spoiled, but we’re likely to get a peek at some of this new character’s really unique deck!

I’m pretty excited about the idea of invocations.

If only the snowstorm that blew through today was going through tomorrow! Then I'd be able to watch, instead of being stuck at work.

So they’ve confirmed Doctor Strange and showed a couple of his invocations, but Unflappable is a 1-cost Protection Upgrade that you can exhaust to draw a card after defending and taking no damage.

Spidey Backflips Intensifyyyy

On that note, they’re going to clarify within a few weeks via rules reference how exactly Defense and Defend do or don’t interact.

BUT Unflappable has Daredevil art and the more Daredevil art we get the more I need a Daredevil Hero 😭

Dr Strange being Protection is indeed a pleasant surprise. But seeing Iron Man as a Leadership ally was truly astonishing! I didn't expect a Core hero as an Ally so soon, if ever.

SO

Doc has 5 invocation cards that make up a separate little deck, and he still has 15 cards of his own. The Invocations are only playable by exhausting Strange's Hero Side to pay their cost. But one of them does 7 damage and stuns for only 2 resources, and the other they shared allows you to change one condition card for 0 resources (so you can become tough instead of stunned, for example.) You can only play the one on top, and they seem to all discard once you've used them, so you'll be cycling through it--but there's no penalty for cycling through it, either.

Because he's got the extra 5 cards, one of the Aspect cards had to be unique. So we're getting a Leadership Iron Man ally! He's 4 cost for a 2/2/3 health ally, and any upgrades you put on him are one cheaper. Seems fun!

Definitely dropping Nova for Iron Fist for my Cap-Protection deck.

Also...is it weird that they only mention pre-ordering from local retailers and not direct from the Asmodee store?

Just a heads up...it is actually available on the Asmodee store for pre-order even though not mentioned in the article.

Good, because I was staring a hole in the FFG web page.

Did anybody else notice the part where they mentioned that the heroes coming after the campaign box will be related to the campaign box? The way they were talking about it, I'd be surprised if it involves the Avengers at all. Maybe we'll be seeing some X-Men.

I had noticed that discussion on BGG, but until that post I’d always read it like this:

Defend = Character is intercepting the attack, and is the target.

Defense = a keyword on a card to differentiate it from Attack. This is important, because some other Keywords function based on being attacked (Ie Retaliate ).

Makes sense if it marks a transition to a different story.

It does definitely sound like they are going to move on from the heavy Avengers focus that we've seen so far. Could not be more excited, honestly! Let's see the X-Men, or Defenders, or Guardians!
