Operable Terrain, or, How to bring the LAAT into the game

By PalpShuttle, in Star Wars: Legion

Looking at other threads, the idea of having the LAAT in the game seems to be an idea rising in popularity. However, it is a unit that is quite wide. What if inside of using the whole ship, we instead used a part of it? Like a crashed LAAT as a terrain piece that can be interacted with and its beam turret used. The card would read something like the following: This terrain piece can be interacted by a trooper unit using the Action: Mount 2 (remove one mini from the unit. Add the LAAT Beam Turret to your team, and the mini is the terrain. If it is a non-Commander, non-Operative mini, its health is increased by two and that becomes this unit's total health. Its courage remains the same)

LAAT Beam Turret would have a 180 degree firing arc.

The card would look like

Cover 1

Stationary

Unmount (if the mounted mini is a non-Commander, non-Operative mini, it is returned to its original unit if the original unit is within movement range 1. If not, the mini is removed from play)

Salvaged Parts (after this unit is defeated or mounted mini is unmounted, this terrain piece cannot be mounted for the remainder of the game)

Surge to hit

Red Defense Die

Weapon: Range 2-5, 5 black dice. Pierce 1, Impact 1

Sweep (after attacking for the first time with this unit this round, chose a unit within Range 1 of the defender, and in the firing arc and line of sight of the attacker. Perform a free attack action (using half of your weapon's dice, rounded up) against this unit even if you already attacked this round, reducing the keyword values of this card by 1)

Ah, a fellow Republic Commando Fan I see

I think this is a fantastic Idea, and it makes a lot of sense. though, I'm more worried about it being to long rather than wide

I have to say I really like your LAAT/i idea. But I absolutely love the general idea of functional terrain. I'd much rather see this than an awkward sliding scale version. I'm curious what other terrain could fit in this category.

The AT-TE could fall into this category

Fallen AT-TE Walker

Cover 1

Stationary

Mass Driver Turret
(If a trooper, commander, or operative, is within movement range of this model, take one figure out of that group and place it in the turret. You now have control of this weapon)

Weapons
Mass Driver Turret

2 Red, 3 Black, range 3-5. Blast, Impact 1, High Velocity

here is an Idea for a downed AT-TE as a terrain piece
