How does the City of Adventure play?

By Curator, in Talisman

I can't find a good scan of either the forest or city so I was wondering what type of encounters the city offers, what is the end space of the city board. I know a Wraith is at the end of the forest board how do they play out in combat and were there any interesting spaces that stand out from either the city or forest board that have special rules?

I figured I might as well seek insight into what the future holds for next summer. Also, what do you think comes next forest or city.

Thanks guys.

The city of adventure for 3rd edition is basically an L-shaped street made of city spaces (where you take city cards) with a location (a shop, a temple or whatever) attached to each space. There's no real end of realm boss to defeat like there is in the other three realms. Instead you just visit the city to spend some of the gold you have earned on the items you can only purchase there. Also there are ways of earning a "career" card, which gives you certain extra bonuses and abilities. From memory I think you could become a high mage, a kings champion, a master thief or a sheriff. It was basically a rather simplified and less cluttered version of the 2nd edition's city (which I personally think was better). In the 2nd edition city the board was larger and the city was set out with the royale castle in the middle and unique locations scattered around linked by city street spaces. Somehow it seemed to be more thematic to me; though the rules were highly convoluted.
