I'm specifically referring to under-barrel attachments or attachments filling a similar role. Here is list (there may be others I don't know about) of the attachments with their listed Encumbrance on the tables: Bayonet (1), Vibro-bayonet (+1), Ascension Gun (1), Under-Barrel Grapnel Launcher (2), Secondary Ion Blaster (+2), Under-Barrel Flame Projector (-), Under-Barrel Grenade Launcher (-), Under-Barrel Micro-Rocket Launcher (+3), and Under-Barrel Missile System (+3).
Here is that same list with their listed encumbrance in their description: Bayonet (NA), Vibro-bayonet (NA), Ascension Gun (NA), Under-Barrel Grapnel Launcher (Increases weapon's encumbrance by 2), Secondary Ion Blaster (Increases encumbrance by 2), Under-Barrel Flame Projector (NA), Under-Barrel Grenade Launcher (Increases encumbrance by 2), Under-Barrel Micro-Rocket Rack (increases encumbrance by 3), and Under-Barrel Missile System (Increases encumbrance by 3).
And here, for reference, are Armor Attachments with a modifier on Encumbrance: Integrated Holsters (+4/Increases encumbrance by 4), Integrated Med Systems (+1/NA), Micro-Rocket Armor Mounting (+3/Increases encumbrance by 3).
So my issue is this: These seem very inconsistent in a couple of ways: 1. The encumbrance of the item. 2. How they are labeled. My understanding was that when it said "+X" it meant you increased your encumbrance threshold, when it said "X" you increased the encumbrance of the weapon/item, and when it said "-X" you reduced the encumbrance of the item. However, there are multiple instances of contradictions in this regard.
Can anyone help me sift through this and figure out what the heck is going on?
With my interpretation, here's what values I would put on the weapons:
Bayonet (1), Vibro-Bayonet (1), Ascension Gun (1), Under-Barrel Grapnel Launcher (2), Secondary Ion Blaster (2), Under-Barrel Flame Projector (2), Under-Barrel Grenade Launcher (+2), Under-Barrel Micro-Rocket Rack/Micro-Rocket Armor Mounting (+3), Under-Barrel Missile System (+3), Integrated Holsters (+4), Integrated Med Systems (+1).
