My Disney Loving Girlfriend Gave Me a Terrible (Wonderful) Idea

By GameboyAK, in Game Masters

Upon us watching Atlantis: The Lost Empire on Disney+ (a favorite of both of ours from our childhood) and upon seeing the Leviathan, she asked(since she is going to be a player in my next campaign) "Do you have anything like that in your campaign." I smiled and said "Now I do."

So, obviously need to homebrew some stats for this large droid ship. The exact creature I plan on using as a basis I'm not sure of just yet, but it'll likely remain similar to the lobster design of the original. Weapon wise, it'll have a composite beam primary weapon, nowhere near Eclipse or Death Star levels of power, but more beefed up from the LAAT ball turret, including a slow firing; alongside that, it'll have two sets of claws to capture any unfortunate ship slow enough to get caught. I might toss in a handful of dorsal point defense cannons in case my players decide to retreat and bring back a fleet to take it on.

Anyone have any suggestions/ideas I should include in this while I make up the stats on it?

I don't have any suggestions other than "do it". lol

sounds awesome

A student of the Sheev Palpatine school of motivational speaking.

So, for the handful that do care, I am using the Legends variant of the Krakana as the chassis basis

Gives me a solid base for a description without have to change almost anything from the original Leviathan design.

But nobody cares about the fluff . You guys want the meat and potatoes... THE STATS!

Krakana-class Droid Dreadnought

Silhouette: 8 (Based on the fact I have seen claims the Leviathan is around 3000 meters long, and compared to the 115 meter long Ulysses, this size seems appropriate, but I may drop it to 7 for one reason or another)
Speed: 3 (This thing is deceptively fast, enough to scare slower capital ships and some starfighters)
Handling: +1 (Giant space fish in space, designed to look as if it is swimming in its natural environment thanks to several maneuvering fins)
Defense: 2 in all sections (Don't want this thing to be too easy to hit by starfighters, plus this thing having decent shields would not be surprising)
Armor: 7 (Decently tanky with several sections of layered armor plating)

Hull Trauma: 110
System Strain: 45 (Higher hull trauma to represent it being a machine of war, despite some exposed layers of unarmored systems/structure, but the lower system strain since it is a droid and is more vulnerable to Ion based weapons)

Hardpoints: 0 (No need to modify an existing design)
Rarity: 10 (One of a kind)
Sensor Range: Long (It is meant to act as a guard dog of sorts, so seeing things coming at a decent range would be good for its roll)
Hyperdrive: Primary class 2.0/Backup class 13.0 (Allows some travel if necessary but not terribly quickly)

Weaponry
24 Dorsal Turret-mounted Point Defense Laser Cannons: Damage- 5, Range- Close, Critical- 3, Fire Arcs- All Dorsal Arcs, Accurate 1 (The only weapons I have added to make more sense in line with Star Wars, especially since it is weak to starfighters as it is)
4 Large Pincer Claws: Damage- 3, Range- Close, Critical- 4, Fire Arcs- Forward/Port/Starboard, Breach 2/Linked 3/Tractor 6/Vicious 2 (According to the image there are four pincer tipped tentacles, giving it a decent amount of range for what it is. Brawl will be the skills associated with these pincers. The Tractor is going to be a specially ruled Active instead of passive, acting as its "grip strength" to hold a ship in place)
2 Small Pincer Claws: Damage- 1, Range- Close, Critical- 4, Fire Arcs- Forward, Breach 1/Linked 1/Tractor 3/Vicious 1 (In keeping with the original Leviathan, there will be two additional smaller arms near its "mouth" for closer range attacks/targets, same special rule for Tractor)
Composite Beam Laser: Damage- 8, Range- Medium, Critical- 3, Fire Arc- Forward, Breach 3/Blast 3/ Autofire/ Slow Firing 2/ Vicious 3 (This is a hard hitting and precise beam of death. Using the LAAT ball turret anti-personnel lasers as the template for Blast and Autofire, I added in Breach as we see the beam slice through several decks. Vicious 3 was included to represent how quickly it ended up decimating the sub in the movie but may be adjusted up or down a point, and Slow Firing 2 was used because it was not firing in every frame as well as for game balance)

Droid Brain Characteristics
Brawn 1, Agility 2, Intellect 2, Cunning 2, Willpower 1, Presence 1 (While the original droid vehicle rules have all characteristics at 1, this being an advanced AI/Boss level character, some slightly increased stats are warranted)
Adversary 2
Astrogation- 3, Brawl- 3, Computers- 4, Gunnery- 4, Mechanics- 4, Perception- 3, Piloting (Space)- 4, Resilience- 3, Stealth- 4, Vigilance- 3 (All of these are mostly based on what I know my players are like and will end up attempting to try in order to fight this beast)

This is only a first draft, and may edit accordingly!
