Edited by CloakerNo Wedge or Howlrunner in Hyperspace
Hmmm, I was going to take a squad to a System Open that featured both Iden and Howlrunner. But it looks like I will flying First Order now for the main event.
Edited by AgentoftheEmpireNo quickdraw, no sinker, no Anakin aethersprite, no interceptors, no v1s, no to about a hundred other pilots.
Hyperspace has been culled and I love it! finally, feels like a distinct format from extended.
I will add that no Ello makes me the saddest, thematically.
That moment when you realise Delta-7B is not hyperspace legal.
Ouch, just realized this. I really wanted to go back to the classic swarm as well of 7 Ties + Howlrunner too
how to best swarm now?
Edit: no crackshot either! The sky is falling, swarms are dead! Jk, but in all seriousness are tie swarms still played? Any clever swarm lists going into hyperspace 2020 or should I just run 9 academy's?

I have a regular opponent whose Tie swarm thrashes me 90% of the time.
My lowly Republic Beef list comprehensively took him apart twice last night.
Seems like in Hyperspace at least I no longer need to fear the Tie swarm.

8 ships is the official cap for tournament lists.

Of course there's a cap

No howlrunner, wampa, or night beast. No crackshot, or marksmanship ept. No sloan, and not even moff jerjerrod. Academy lowered to 22pts but I forgot about the 8 ship limit. It is what is, I'll have to find a diffetent list, no bigs. But it does seem that you are correct and they dont want tie swarms to be in full force for at least this hyperspace cycle.

The devs think Howl’s boring and I couldn’t agree more. They just want to prove we don’t need her.
Mix it up!
Del + Seyn + Gideon + 4
Vader + 6
RAC + Stuff + 5
8x Black
Mix in some Strikers or Reapers
Be creative!

Sloan has never been in Hyperspace. But you can fit 8 Epsilon Squadron cadet (F/O) in a swarm. Really looking forward to trying this.

You can fit Inferno Squad, alongside Mauler and Scourge, all with Ruthless, in a list.
No idea if it'll be any good, mind you.

If you're worried about damage output without Cive Rashon, consider a MAXIMUM RUTHLESSNESS swarm.
- Mauler Mithel - Ruthless
- Scourge Skutu - Ruthless
- Gideon Hask - Ruthless
- Black Squadron Ace - Ruthless x 4
You've got all three hyperspace legal "+1 die" TIE aces, two I5 pilots, a base initiative better than most generic-based squads, and you're not trying to fly in a 3x2 block that won't fit around obstacles.

You only don't need her if no one else gets any mods either. Seems to me they made Hyperspace a high variance format on the one hand. On the other it just seems like they made a list of stuff they were tired of seeing and cut it from the format regardless of whether or not that was fair or just from some vague notion of make the factions different when they were giving all the same stuff to everyone in the first place.

Dice-fettling is out there, you just need to look for it. One thing which (for what has to be the first time in ever) has me slightly tempted by Scum and Villainy is the fact that you can now field 4 Fearless Skull Squadron Protectorates - in a head-on pass that's pretty scary.
HS Swarms eh?
8 M3-A or 8 TIE/fo...
Also 4x Autoblaster M3-A + 4x MGT.
Edited by CerebrawlWith Wedge gone, and a lot of other nasty threats, I feel like it is the Rise of Skywalker. He's a very defensive T-65 pilot with a high Init. Since swarms won't have their toys to make them nasty, I see him doing better.
Or is it finally the Rise of Porkins????

Yeah, Luke is going to be pretty common, as will be generic X-Wings. Porkins? I think he'll show up more. Both of these Red squadron pilots are in my list at the moment.
Honestly, I like the hyperspace changes. Feels like it's opened some experimentation again. Hopefully this isn't just a momentary illusion.

I know people that say they aren't good and don't like coming up with their own lists. They just netlist and play. You will always have a certain percentage that just won't make up their own. Still, some people will be bold, though.

Oh, there is that and there really isn't anything wrong with that either.

That's fine; I imagine there will be plenty to pick from in a few weeks.
Regarding Howlrunner; I think the game will do well to shift away from her (and Sinker and Drea) a little bit in general. She was always too cheap before for what she brought to the table. Mods are important but for 46 points you might be able to do better for your money. You can get two Obsidian TIEs for that! Learning to fly swarms that aren't in a box is difficult but I expect it will actually pay off.
Who knows? Maybe a whole bunch of Hyperspace stuff will still fare well in Extended?
Edited by ClassicalMoserSeems pointless to discuss those 2 in a vaccuum when there's a whole ton of other stuff that got cut from hyperspace from other factions.

Yeah it's hilarious to me how every single faction sees the things they're missing and insists they'll be the very worst and don't stand a chance.
Every faction got hit more or less the same. And honestly with the buffs and nerfs around this is probably good for moving us away from dubious conventional wisdom and into some new lists that will probably be just as good with some practice, but more varied and interesting.
Remember. If you believe your faction's listbuilding hinges on one unit, you might have a s**ty faction.
Unless you're The Republic. Then ow. Yes. You were definitely harmed.
Anyway, I don't mind not seeing Wedge. I don't think his pilot ability actually rewards smart play. As for Howlrunner, it's a bit of a shame, but that TIE Fighters are extremely cheap now means that they'll be able to fill a lot of voids in Imperial lists, which is fairly thematic. Even named pilots may appear where they otherwise would not have.
