FFG Points Update Live Stream Reminder Edit: Added links to the Jan 2020 points files and both Rules Reference Files

By Hiemfire, in X-Wing

Tractor mechanics are poised to be changed, they said as much during the last livestream, plus they got a nerf a little while back anyway with 'Tractoring' being made harder on medium and large base ships.

So the mighty quadjumper should drop from 32 perhaps back to 28?

I dont think it will be spend the token to move a ship i think they will change the tractor action which leaves the G.Fighters as they are. I recognise Tractor action will be add a token, if the ship is tractored you may move the ship and remove all Tractor tokens.

Once per opportunity is fair, using a focus to regen force is fluffy (but way weaker).

Rey is super strong (pricy and fragile too) but can't abuse Force like Vader or Obi), same for lower initiative pilots.

It's the conjunction of: 3 charges, high initiative and ability to leave the game and come back full that makes it an abuse.

That should already happen without further nerfs, if it's nerfed so tractor tokens are spent to move, they should go down even further, to 25-26.

I'm hoping for a bit more reduction in some of the never seen FO ships like Avenger and TIEs. Irregardless of the upcoming shuttle to full the gap, Ups other than Tavson could drop quite a few points. Yeah, yeah, my 4-gun arc, blah-blah, but really: how many times can you get a Starkiller on any target anyway?

The best solution that I think is fair but still keeps force strong is only allowing to spend one force per opportunity on offense and defense. So having a lock and 3 force for an attack is really only a lock and 1 force for the attack. Having 3 force on defense would be like having only a calculate for defense for three different attacks.

This keeps force strong, escpecially for 1 force charge pilots, but doesn't give Jedi fully modded shot when they aren't getting shot.

This is a great solution. It also allows all of the abilities in the game to remain usable, and forces additional choices. I'm hoping this'll happen.

I'm looking forward to a tractor change with great enthusiasm. But after Brooks put his foot in the ground on the last stream basically saying that he would not be convinced it's an NPE mechanic, well, I'm not exactly hopeful I guess?

Just a few hours and we'll know though.

We all saw what you did there....

Don't underestimate Avenger, he's done me proud recently! :) (Top 8 in a 40 player Hyperspace Trial, so pretty decent.) That said, a points discount for most of the TIE Silencer pilots would be lovely.

Please give me 33-pt Interceptors...

Not an Imperial player, but I'd love to see more generics on the board for them outside of the various TIE Swarms.

Big Congrats Jarval!

I love a squad that I'm playing with of the three names Silencer pilots -not named Kylo- and have been toying with possible upgrades and or dropping one or two with I4 generics as I play around with them. I just love the chassis and the dial, it's just a squeeze too costly IMO to be anything that most would see as top-tier, so a bit of a drop I think will occur on the non-force users and all will be OK with that.

@LagJanson what if we did a double variable point cost on regen? The one that exists plus an extra fee per force charge the pilot has? So regen Anakin or Obi would be bonkers expensive, Plo would be expensive but not quite, etc.

Sorry, at the office so not following closely.

A variable price on regen is good. There are ways to do it with greater complexity

  • It’s easier for high initiative to escape than for lower.
  • A tax on boosting regen seems smart
  • Tax for having force tokens would be nice

Software is a mental pain.

Good luck, and I almost hope you get your 6 interceptors.

While not points or new ships related, I want someone to ask about ships limits in Epic. 1st edition had limits by base size, but no mention of limits exists in the new rules or rules reference aside from the standard limit of 8 (which assumedly doesn't apply).

@Hiemfire I can't get on Twitch at work, could you ask for me?

Yeah, I like this too.

It would have the added benefit of making some of the Force Power upgrades more attractive too.

If you can't burn all your Force to fully mod an attack, you might want one of the lesser mods provided by something like Predictive Shot.

It also makes Brilliant Evasion better value. While it's still essentially the same ability, the fact that you now can't spend more than one Force token in that potentially clutch situation where it might come up means Brilliant Evasion serves as better insurance.

I just asked. There is no chassis limit unless the players think it'd be more fun.

That's true, a lot of Force upgrades are just worse than free Calculate.
