Well. It might still be RIP. I think we should just make it the shrug emoji.

Why slide under the rug the fact that they are cancelling future development of their RPG lines ? Isn't it something that should be known ?
At this point, if they don't come out to contest the rumor.
I feel like hiding that rumor (fact?) from the consumers is a bit too corporate friendly.
If there is any hope of a continuity, in whatever form it can take, I feel it is better to let the rumor keep going and let the fans come up with their own actions and make their voices heard on the subject instead of just possibly silently letting it die.

Because the title says "RIP" and not " Future Development Cancelled"? It's misleading?
It's hard to say the game is dead, as suggested by RIP, when there are still new books coming and discussion is still alive at this forum. Sure it's on life support due to no new future development. In this case, suggesting it's already dead is sliding the upcoming books under your proverbial rug. It's not quite dead yet (insert Monty Python meme).

Basically
lol
But it will probably be before the end of 2020... (just guessing!).
Though, sure, "Future Development Cancelled" is more exact.
RIP (despite we have no official statement), future development cancelled (despite a new book has been announced), "probably", "guessing"...
So many assumptions based on gossips.
French staff told that an official announcement should come in some weeks.
Before that, that's only rumors and interpretation. The current and proposed topic titles more reflect fears than facts.

And Fry's electronics is not closing according to the company 😌
Yet all their stores go empty and the staffs are looking for new jobs.
The point is that most companies are not going to come out and say "we are done"
You don't announce to the table "Hey I have a royal flush" you keep that to yourself as the pot rises.
They want to get as much as they can out of it before the end, so you will see new books come out for the next few months even a year as they empty out their back-stock of project they where working on.
The true test will be in 6-8 months when they have announced all the projects they have on the back burner and if they announce more after that.

When adjusted for inflation then Rise of Skywalker is the second worst grossing Star Wars movie and if we look at the profits of that movie it barely broke even. All other Star Wars films except Solo made nice profits.
You seen to have missed the entire point of my post.
What you stated here was the point I was making.
Star Wars under Disney has been a complete joke. No wait jokes are funny, it is more like a Greek tragedy.
I was responding to one of the other posters that was using the "it made 1.08 billion" line in defense of Disney.
The truth is that after 5 + movies Star Wars under Disney had yet to make a true dent in the 4 billion dollar cost they spend on it.
And has made nothing compared to what Lucas made off it during his ten-year.

Hello there,
On our side of the Atlantic "Rôliste TV" recently interviewed Stéphane Bogard from Edge Entertainment (part of the Asmodee Group like FFG) at the FIJ (Festival international des jeux - international festival of games).
Stéphane gives some comments about the future of the L5R RPG both here in Europe but also in the USA, from about 8min here

I think that the Youtube auto translate feature will be better than me but here are some interesting parts
:
- "Concerning the rumours about the end of the RPG lines there is somewhere a plan that was put in place".
- "Big licences like Star Wars or even L5R cannot be abandonned like that, there is a logic behind that"
- "The GAMA event in march can be the occasion for an official announcement from FFG".

new post before moderation of this one
During a french interview at the FIJ, Edge Entertainment's publishing director basically advised to not be to worried for those RPG and to wait for GAMA since it wouldn't be surprising to see some official announcements there.
However, he was very careful to not make any "promise" since either he doesn't know for sure when announcements will be made and is just making an educated guess, and/or he doesn't have the authority to make those promises.
