This is the worse possible news for the game :(

By Andreievitch, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

There is some possibly telling wording at the new English website for EDGE. https://edge-studio.net/

It mentions entrusting RPG's to a single studio, then says what I bolded. Does this mean freelancers?

Apparently in an interview it was said that some of the people that worked on the lines will be doing freelance work them moving forward.

Excellent. EDGE is the team behind 'The End of the World' RPG which IMO is not bad.

I have had so much fun running their zombie setting.

Are you guys talking about (what I thought was) FFG’s line of 4 End of the World games? If so, didn’t know they were Edge.

The game is essentially complete. I am surprised a 2nd edition was never released. The game has been out 8 years now?

Like someone said, FFG could hire freelancers writers instead of full time staff to run their RPG line with 1 chief editor. Helps them save a buck and maximize profits which is what it comes down to.

Or, even cheaper, get someone in another studio to do that job for you. Many companies are doing that and choose Modiphius (among others); Asmodee chose Edge.

Not when RPGs have been moved to a different Asmodee imprint, putting FFG’s focus on board/card/mini games they can’t. 😜

Yep

Yep

then that gives me some hope. I have all four of the books and although I have yet to have an opportunity to play them, I though they were well written and put together.

Yep

So... May 4th. I mean, if you did have something in the pipeline that’d be the day to release news, right?

Or just do what was done for Lot5R the other day by giving away a free adventure pdf.

(Is there a SW convention adventure that’s hitherto not been released?)

Ignoring the biggest day of the year in the SW calendar... (again) feels like such a massive wasted opportunity.

FFG has wasted it before...several times. Why would the new kids be any different?

Not to mention that they just took over the RPGs early this year, and it usually takes 1 year from start to finish before an RPG book is done.

So, 2021 is probably the earliest that we will see anything.

Because the new kids are different?
Because rebellions are built on hope?

They could announce something though, even if we won’t see it this year. Teasing the title of the Mandalorian book would be apt.

If anything, I imagine we might see what their GenCon module was going to be, if there was one. I don't think we'll see any book announcements *unless* there was a book already in the pipeline from the old team that is mostly written (which is doubtful).

Exactly. How many GenCon modules have there been that are unpublished? And why limit access to that content to those who can afford to go to GenCon? Ok, convention exclusivity is a hook to go, but at least make the content generally available at a suitable period of time afterwards. It’s not like we’ve got SW modules coming out of our ears.

Right now I would be happy with an announcement for reprints. Everything is still out of stock. Just a "Reprints are now underway!" would be great for morale. Still, Covid complicates things and they're probably sorting out issues. In due time in due time.
