This is the worse possible news for the game :(

If you are talking about expanded rules, you are talking about adding crunch.

One of the big selling points for this RPG, is the fact that it is very narrative-based. So less rules means more narration in this case.
I would like to keep it that way ;)

more of stuff that fixes the odd points of the game like how a 2 armor speeder cant be harmed by most of the guns in the game

or a way to add things that are useful but not in all the game lines or even good ways to mix force users and non force users in the same group

Or clarifications on rules that differ slightly between books, such as One-Handed Carbines or whether you can spend an advantage to heal a strain more than once per check.

It would also be nice to have a compilation of all the Advantage, Triumph, Threat, and Despair expenditure tables in a book like that. (would probably exclude tables like Crafting that have their own set of rules associated with them)

That ship sailed a long time ago; almost every career book added a new subsystem that mechanically impacts what was previously entirely narrative. This includes social encounters, investigations, hyperspace travel, trade, and (most infamously) crafting.

Major exaggeration.

I've hoped since year one of this game that they would eventually go the way of the three black books (Gear & Gadgets, etc). But, it's incomplete. I would hope for a Character's book (character creation and all of the classes, talents, skills, races from every book) and a Referee's book (the actual game rules). Add those two with the three recent omnibus editions and you've got a complete system without having to keep an entire bookshelf nearby.

ETA: Races to CG book.

I was hoping for a races book myself.

I suppose that could fit in the character generation book with the classes? A Player Guide with character creation rules, races, classes, talents, skills.

I think that is still possible as well as a rules referense style book. as both could have been far enough along to have been at least at the printer before January

I feel like I'm peeing in the wind but would love just a couple of additional sourcebooks (notably, ST Era and Mandalorian Era) so if this "RPGs will continue" comment could go ahead nad cover my request, that would be great ;)

I love it when you don't have to explain a (pretty obvious) reference, thanks for making me smile on a Friday morning :)

In my experience, as someone who worked with freelancers, they work on a need to know basis. He might have access to some informal news but these are usualy gossip. But then again he might be Mr-Know-It-All.

He might not have intimate details of the license, or maybe he does and he is contractually obligated from coming out and saying that.

But yes, Sterling Hershey is one of the people I would expect to be as close to the decision making process inside of FFG as anyone else in the world that we are actually likely to hear anything from.

Well he has done work on every version of the game. So i suspect he knows the license better than most. Does he know the specific details? probably not. But he has been working for star wars licensed rpgs from the beginning. I also suspect he is under some NDAs that potentially could still be in force. SO Yes I know he knows more than you and I know. But I also know that if he wants to keep working on this line or future lines he likely has to tread carefully.

Given the length of time he has worked on the RPG I suspect he is far far more aware than you are giving him credit for. He likely knows more about the license specifics than you think. The form of that license was set way back when WEG got it. and he was working with WEG back then. Then he was working with WotC and finally working with FFG. So yeah he likely know more. and likely he cant say more. He is likely still in contact with those who were in the RPG department and those still with FFG.

Maybe not by most standard guns in the game. But when you get into crafted weapons, at the top end it’s not hard to get into situations where you have dozens of Advantage and a number of Triumphs to work with. Pierce 10 and above can be achieved.

Then you add the right attachments, and you put that in the hands of the right people, and smaller/less armored vehicle start to be something that can actually be damaged by personal-scale weapons.

A 2 armored speeder is an armored vehicle and should stop most small arms fire. You need something designed to take out military grade vehicles.

Personally, I would have loved a GM rules reference that compiled the dozens of “ideas to spend your dice results” charts from across all three lines. My players don’t have all 20+ books and no one carries 20+ books around so that they can quickly reference the one chart on investigations, or Astrogation, or ....

Will this help?

These are great! Three questions:

1. Is page 2 supposed to be blank?

2. Do you, anyone else, know where GM Hooly got the verbiage for the "Scan the Enemy" action? Looks like a house rule?

3. Have you, or would you, consider pulling the Genesys Social Encounters chart / mechanics into this, with Star Wars dice symbols in lieu of Genesys dice symbols? I have some amateur (compared to these and GM Hooly) cheatsheets that we use, but having them in this format would be awesome. And I would think other GMs would find them helpful too.

1. It’s a formatting thing. I’ve got copies printed double-sided and bound, and the blank page that’s in there keeps things grouped together in a way that I prefer.

2. The pages that Hooly did are included as he made them, with no edits, so I’ve never really dissected the contents.

3. I hadn’t until you suggested it. Something to mull over.

Guys,

For those who speak french you should listen to this interview. The news are so bad apparently. Let's see what happens.

There are consequences to skipping leg day.

I know scan the enemy is an option in the actions players can take in starship combat. I think it is in the sideba on actions non pilots and non gunners can do...

It IS an option in all the CRBs. But the description / mechanics on Hooly's cheatsheet is FAR different from RAW. Not bad, mind you. Just not anything like what RAW states.

If you're talking about the sample above, that might be because it is made for Genesys, not Star Wars. There are some mechanical differences.

Actually, I have done that. I have luggage for that express purpose.

I stopped doing it when I stopped playing SWRPG in person. You don’t need luggage to cart all the books around if you’re playing in roll20 or on Discord.
