The Ackbar Maneuver

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I don’t think this is complete, the one I was thinking of opens with Darth Vader and *Commander Moff Jerjerrod’s dialogue.

*We were going to add the rank of Commander Moff mentioned in the audio version to West End Games Imperial Sourcebook as a Moff with military but no political power but that did not make the final edit.

For some reason I have a bizarre pseudo recollection from the space battle in RotJ.

Nien Nunb complaining to Lando - after the Falcon took a hit; can't remember if it was during the space battle or the DS2 run. Lando looks at him and say "calm down, it's just a nosebleed!".

Never seen it in any version of the script, or the film itself (at least not the remastered versions). Of course, I did watch RotJ when it came out in the cinema as a kid, so, maybe it was just imagination running wild.

I'd read somewhere (a LONG time ago) that in one of the original plans, the Falcon didn't make it out of DSII in time.

Supposedly, as the explosion overwhelmed them, Lando says "I hope that old pirate can forgive me," and I STILL get choked up thinking about it.

I don't know anymore if this is legit or if it came from some fever dream, but I would have loved it to add a measure of sacrifice to their victory. (I mean, sure, plenty of (at the time) unnamed pilots and crew died, but...)

That would have been actually really good. Not saying I want Lando to die, but it would have put a little bit of more emphasis on the sacrifices the Rebellion made to defeat the Empire.
