Huge ship multiple turret example

By smalenberg, in X-Wing Rules Questions

In both the huge ship rules on page 8 and the rules reference on page 33, the same diagram is used to show multiple arcs. The part I don't get is why is the TIE at range 1 of the Turbolaser Batter? The part that is messing me up is "Regardless of whether a turret arc indicator is on the front or rear mount, its firing arcs are always measured from the center of the ship, not the mount." But they added a second range rule measuring the range as 1 from the front corner for the turbo laser. I'm not clear why the range is being measured from a different place. If it is still in arc based on the center, it would be range 2 right? Unless what this intends to depict is that when pointed to port and starboard (or both for a double arc), you use the 90s on the side for arc and range, but if pointed to fore or aft (or both), you use the arcs and measure from the fore or aft?

Attack ranges are the closet point of each ship, in arc. Thus, Turbolaser (in the front arc) is at range 1 while Point Defense (side arc) is in range 2.

The single turret indicator for the turbolaser battery is facing forward, so the attack for the turbolaser would come from the front arc and not from the side arc. The double turret indicator for the point defense battery is facing left/right, so the attack for the point defense battery is coming from the side arc. The ship's primary weapon is also a side arc weapon.

As rydiak says, you measure the closest points of each ship that are in the firing arc, so the measurement for the forward arc would come from the front corner while the measurement for the side arc would along the edge of that arc, as demonstrated in the image.
