Hi all,
First post here and took a look through the first five or so pages and didn't see something too similar, so hoping this is an interesting discussion. From reading a bit and watching a few videos, this game seems pretty well balanced which is cool, it seems there's a lot of choice with what to go with and no really useless ships. I'm thinking about hosting a bunch of interested friends (some with a fair bit of miniatures experience, some without) so wanted to buy a few additional expansions for both factions. We'll start with the Core Set to get a feel for it, but thinking ahead as we're all big SW fans who don't mind board games, will the following set of 'next purchases' make sense with that in mind? Bear in mind this is more for fun rather than tournament play, but if I need a couple of extra purchases to actually allow for interesting builds I'd love to know.
If I was to get the following, would that constitute some flexible options for casual play? The aim would be to use the ships in the core set most of the time as well to avoid waste.
Rebels :
MC80 - or should I get the MC75 instead?
MC30
Hammerhead pack
Fighter pack 1
Imperials :
Chimera
Interdictor - or skip this entirely as it seems more advanced/wouldn't fit if people were to use an ISD and a Victory?
Raider
Fighter pack 1
Rogues and Villians pack
From looking at various games played (albeit at a much more competitive level), it seems the Gozanti/MC75 might be useful to allow for various squadron builds? The Imperials list looks like it doesn't really hang together from what I've read, so maybe I'm better off ditching the Interdictor and Raider and picking up one or two other things.
Basically the only ships I don't love (purely from an aesthetic perspective) are the Assault Frigate and Gladiator-Class, so am tempted to not get those. Any other thing is fair game to swap though.
Thanks in advance!
