The new Phasma SF pilot ability looks pretty fun to play. As a FO player, we were in dire need of... something, so I’m taking this as a positive! I think it’d be best to carry an escort with her, like two generic SFs to soak up damage. Kylo fits nicely here as a “pick your poison,” the ace or the entourage.

Since we don’t know points yet, I’ve used Backdraft’s points since they’re the same Initiative but I imagine Phasma will be several points higher.

Don't think you want to put Phasma and Kylo on the same list, it might backfire. The only Silencer who'll pair nicely with Phasma might be Rush, and even then it might be risky to have Rush close to Phasma after he is damaged.

I don’t see it as a problem if you play it right. The concept is to fly them in different directions and make the opponent choose which one to go after. I wouldn’t keep them close together. It’s not too dissimilar to any Kylo/QuickDraw list. After they choose, they both likely won’t last to the end game.

I kinda want to try Phasma with Gunner and Angled Deflectors. Seems like a combo that would really make her look more enticing of a target with one less shield than she really ends up being.

The trick is giving her the action to make up for the reinforce. Fanatical works, but only kicks in when she's at half health (or 3/5 health in this case, I guess).

I think pairing her with other fanatical ships is probably a good move; if you're going to be slope-shouldering damage you might as well use it. Angled Deflectors Phasma and a couple of Fanatical Omega Experts is a nice 'block'. Omega Squadron Aces - as suggested by @LeMightyASP are cheaper, but also might prove harder to keep in formation with Phasma because they can't fly slow and have different speed segnor's loops.

But why would any opponent shoot at Phasma and let you spread damage around instead of focus firing one ship at a time? I'd rather kill stuff and just save phasma for last

This has me thinking I should pair her with some FOs instead. Saves on points and adds that third agility to make them even more difficult to get rid of. Or upgrade the FOs to Omega Squadron Aces with Fanatical for the same points as generic SFs.

Whatever wingmen you take, take them with Fanatical or you're not actually 'using' the ability of phasma to shift damage. My concern with regular TIE/fo is just the fiddle of keeping them in formation. With only 1 shield they're probably better candidates for fanatical (they're great in a First Order Elite formation in epic for the same reason).

I imagine people probably would - but then you're still in a situation where people are voluntarily not taking shots at a higher initiative pilot. Plus, if you're hesitant to shoot at her, then she becomes more appealing to put upgrades on - and stuff like special forces gunner/advanced optics/fire control system can dramatically up her firepower.

Hm maybe Tavson. QD is gonna have enough guns on her that you probably don’t need to damage her yourself. Unless you’re trying to dictate when she’s hit. I’d be more tempted if they had the same initiative.

Agreed on Tavson. Opponents don't like to shoot him when he's got a ship an arc. Most people just wait til he passes by, than try to burn him down. It would make for a difficult targeting priority. Depending on points, it might be possible to get Tavson, QD, Phasma, and a 4th ship in a list. That's be a strong group. But I have a feeling that you'd either have everything very light, or that 4th ship is going to be something that is not very impactful.

So the slight drop in points in basic F/O’s is interesting. Is it enough though to want to change how and who you fly Phasma with?

Currently considering this for Hyperspace. Power Cells just are so tempting. If you’re lucky enough to hit her twice, one damage goes to an FO and the other gets regen’d. Optics can be dropped for a bid but I love Optics Kylo and there’s less I6 in HS to worry much about an initiative war.

Hmm Phasma with other S/F’s question is can the others do enough damage? Phasma shouldn’t fear any two Dice attacks as long as she has a wingman near her and possibly ignores 3 dice attacks. (Backdraft is a placeholder for Phasma)

Yeah, seeing how well spam lists did in Vegas and based on @Ronu ’s success I’m thinking about pivoting off my “pick your poison” approach with Kylo and go all-out generics with Phasma.

You know I have come up with that list myself. Biggest thing for me is 1 warm body is at the cost of 3 Arcs and 4 health over the entire squad. I also worry about the approach as the F/O’s and not Phasma really dictates the speed you move as they are Faster than she is. Certainly worth exploring but I have some reservations.

I'm pretty sure I only have three SF's so I'm looking at mixing FO's and SF's with something like this:
Even though no Fanatical on the OS Experts, having all the lower I's be the same should help with blocking and ordering them to keep at R1 of Phasma. Since the FO's are cheap I have room for SFG on the generic SF's that may help add some punch to the list. I do think Deuterium Power Cells are interesting on Phasma, but I think the SFG is more important since Phasma should almost always have a ship . in arc to shoot at with the mobile arc.

I could also drop Fanatical all together and put FCS on the SF's.

You’re probably better off just dropping the OSA’s down to Epsilon’s and giving the fanatical to the S/F’s. As the S/F’s are more likely to hang with Phasma in any event. You could also then just drop the Gunners for yet another F/O.

The gunners help make the shots of the other 3 a bit more effective.

The Numbers actually work if you put them in, apparently the new app cannot math properly.

even if the numbers work, I don’t think Hotshot Gunner is HS legal. They’re not coming up on the LaunchBay app anyway (though I’m not sure I specified this is for HS, so that’s on me).

Something is telling me that SFG is gonna really help in this spam meta I’m seeing and being able to fully hit ships up front or getting multiple shots off in a round. 5 ships that have arc coverage like these SF’s is pretty strong. I think the value across most of these generics give multiple options for success.
