This is something interesting (EP9 spoilers)

Just a link to an article that makes a series of claims about episode 9. If even half of these things are true, I admit I am rather disgusted, though it would explain why it felt rather "choppy" to me and why it's my least favourate out of the new movies, including Rogue 1 which I strongly disliked aside from it's villainous scenes.

That's it, I've not got anything to add as I'm not strongly attached to this series, just figured it was something that hasn't been mentioned thus far. ^^

Edit: Disgusted as in; "why would Disney hire an director only to go over him anyway?" kind of way. I am a bit intrigued otherwise.

Clarification

I avoid getting my news directly from reddit users with "Anonymous Sources". Reddit is notorious for fake news, even when it's linking to external sources. Users can and do fabricate entire stories regularly for karma. This might play well in SaltierThanCrait, where the community is predisposed to thinking all the Sequels are a travesty, but this redditor's premise is that Disney sabotaged The Rise of Skywalker to ruin JJ Abrams.

Except that The Rise of Skywalker has not been nearly as widely hated as The Last Jedi. And I say this as someone whose favourite sequel is The Last Jedi. If Disney's goal was to make JJ Abrams look bad, then... I think they failed spectacularly.

Probably not as much truth as claimed. But probably not completely wrong either. We wil probably never know to what extent

I am calling BS on the whole thing.

There is not a single reason at assume even a single word anonymous Reddit posters post has even a remote relation to what actually happened.

My cousin's roommate's chiropractor told me that Disney was trying to sabotage the SW brand to get out of the deal with Lucas.

That's a surprisingly common one: corporation X has just spent billons of dollars to aquire brand Y, and is now spending hundreds of millions of dollars on top of that to destroy brand Y's image for... reasons?

Well, it has a 86% audience score (averaging 4.32/5 from 81k entries) and 6.9/10 from 196k entries on IMDB so.... it looks like Disney's evil plan to sabotaged JJ's career failed....

Gotta love those conspiracy theories....

I don't think it really had anything to do with sabotaging either Star Wars or JJ. If true, I think it was simply a matter of number crunchers not being confident in where JJ was going with it. As far as whether it is true or not? *Shrug* The movie is what it is, and it isn't that bad. Perhaps somethings would have been better if JJ had been left to his own devices, perhaps somethings would have been worse. From what I saw, there were good points and bad points in the alleged director's cut.

Quote

Rey not only healed Kylo's face scar but she killed Kylo when she healed Ben. Kylo ceased to exist when Rey healed him. My source mentioned that some people assume it was Han Solo who healed him but that isn’t true and that wasn't Han Solo. That was Leia using her own memories as well as Ben's to create a physical manifestation of his own thoughts to nudge him towards what he needed to do. That was her own way of communicating that with him. And it wasn't possible without her dying in the process. She made the ultimate sacrifice for her son and this flew over people's heads with the Disney cut.

This is way dumber than the Han scene we saw in the movie. True or not, I'm glad I didn't see this on the screen.

Studio executives are in the business of making money. They don't meddle with creative decisions to sabotage projects. They meddle in creative decisions because they are worried about marketability and profitability. That said, the source itself is... dubious.

Like the latest project from the director who is responsible for the most profitable movie ever made?

What has the director of My Big Fat Greek Wedding to do with this?
