Raddus nerfed+boosted

It seems they are working o adding more clarification...

Edited by ovinomanc3r

Wow, that's an interesting twist to Raddus. Another (welcome) stab straight at the heart of lifeboating.

I'm more interested in Evade apparently cancelling two dice at extreme range!

Also, evade gets a boost vs onager

Someone pointed to me another change. Now you can only deploy from your flagship.

So the 1-2 is not a complete boost. They really nerfed him.

It's interesting for sure. Makes him much less flexible.

Wow, well those are interesting. I wonder if we will get anymore updates soon.

I love that Raddus can now only deploy around the flagship! Long needed change.

Also it is probably for the best that evade is so strong against small ships. I have now played 5 games with the Onager and it was very good at sniping those small ships.

Is it? I don't think Raddus has every really been that good. He certainly hasn't been taking Organized Play events by storm.

Perhaps also Jerrjerrod could be made to not work with the SSD?

That evade opens up needa options now.

My problem with raddus is that playing him was very easy. It allowed a play to beat a much better opponent (rather easily) in the low to medium skill level. He was never over powered in the very high tier skill level but to strong everywhere below that.

Some games have mechanics that require much less skill to execute that to defend against and only once you get to higher tier players this evens out (Like canon rushes in Star Craft 2. A very effective tactic in lower tier leagues but mostly useless in professional play) and Raddus was one of those mechanics.

So completely nerf a commander that is essentially never used, to be never used again. No chance.

And the Raiders and CR90s rejoiced!

I've used MJJ and will use him again even though I don't own an SSD. He's one of the best Imperial Commanders for Victories / ISDs.

...

If Jerry is considered "never used," something has gone horribly wrong with this game.

JJ is the most used commander so far this Prime season. Last season, pre SSD, he was 7th most taken, but on par with all but Thrawn ahead of him.

I don’t think you can say he is essentially never used, SSD or not.

I could see an adjustment to Jerry and the SSD. Either upping the damage to huge ships, lowering the clicks given to huge ships, or not allowing him on huge. Allowing the SSD to have such crazy manueverability with him, when it comes with a horribly limiting nav chart to balance its other strengths, seems like it dramatically changes how it can operate. And the damage is such a minor annoyance given all the hull/shields, much less proportionally than on an ISD.

I agree with the sentiment behind this even though I know it's not factually true... I never really used JJ before the SSD because he wasn't really necessary... but I also know hes not a bad commander. Cheap and has a powerful effect for the more clumsy ships...

I don't want him nerfed on the SSD, who doesn't like doing donuts with a party bus?

Game balance vs personal preference. Hmm

I like that this moves Raddus away from the 4 Crambos to some degree.

IMO for JJ to need a nerf they would need to give the imperials a smaller command ship for Shields to Maximum.

Getting back to Raddus: It makes more sense to have the ship drop in close to him, also preventing the star hawk from being dropped is probably a good thing.

Yeah I know. It is pretty disgusting what JJ can do on the SSD.

I'd hate to seem him excluded completely though. Especially since Motti is already excluded. He could use a nerf like @JolliGreenGiant said.

I agree that dropping the SH would be overkill, the rest needed no change. Imo.
