RULES NEWS

By ovinomanc3r, in Star Wars: Armada

Well yes, in theory you dont need the have and know the rules for your opponent's fleet, but if you want to catch your opponent's honest omissions and slight inadvertend mistakes I would recommend being familiar with all ships, squads, rules and faq rulings.

Today we played Valencia's Prime with the new Raddus ruling.

HE IS INSANE!

Details, please.

How might a hypothetical jerk face abuse the ever-loving mynocks out of him?

To be honest, the insane thing is the combo Profundity>>>Raddus drop. With the 1-2 distance is basically another way to say "at the start of the round you may deploy the set-aside ship at distance 1-5 of Raddus" which, regarding distance and possible drop places, is also another way to say that Raddus still deploy from any ship.

Distance 1-2 + small ship base + 1 allows you to throw a ship really far. I'd also say round 1 is now a new viable timing for him.

So yes, the new limitation may suck at first but but the distance 1-2 is powerful, the lifeboat stuff is gone, Raddus is quite more interesting and new strategies may be developed.

And the difference to the old Raddus is just the change from distance 1 to distance 1-2. This change is not this big. Most were just not using it (the Profundity) this way. They used Profundity for a drop after Raddus, rarely for a bigger Raddus drop himself.

And you cannot use this trick with a Transport anymore. With the old Raddus you could drop a cheap Transport with the Profundity, and after this drop the Raddus ship. But you cannot do it with a Transport anymore, because they cannot board the Raddus.

This. This method of Profundity wasn't widely used, but I've definitely seen it before. Nu-Raddus isn't much of a change for that build. And that build has some very serious limitations.

You can fe have Raddus on a SH that drops the Profundity to drop a HH. But that is then all you will have, and I would not like a SH without Agata and without Squads.

I tried New Raddus today, with a Profundity + Chammerhead + Aspiration build (Raddus on the Profudnity). I was planning on using the Raddus-seat-swapping trick but ended up not needing it; Distance 2 from Profundity was more than enough on its own. I'm liking New Raddus... so far.

I know it for a very long time: I need a second MC75! 🙃

It's a good way to fly. Give two Armored Cruisers Boarding Troopers and they can burn three tokens off something unlucky and shoot it four times.

It seems they are working o adding more clarification...

May I ask when do these rulings take effect? Or are they in effect already? The RR and FAQ listed in there are not the updated ones

Immediately.

As they are effectively Email responses to Questions.

thankss. So am I right to say these must be used by TOs right now in any tournament and can be quoted à la RR & FAQ?

*Should* be used right now, yes.

MUST is much trickier to formalize, enforce and require... If it is a Competitive level Event (ie, a Prime), then more likely so... But more casual events should, unironically, be more casual about informing it.
