Mon Mothma

By Shadowshand, in Star Wars: Legion

I was thinking, you know who would be a great commander possibly?

Mon Mothma. The female leader of the Rebellion at the time of the Galactic Civil War.

She is a commander in Armada. Although not present in X-Wing, but why not bring her to Legion as a commander for the Rebellion.

Anyone else think she is in the pipeline? Would she be a good idea?

Would love to see her, and General Rieekan, too

No, i don't think so. While Princess Leia has gone through combat training, i don't think that mon mothma would be useful in an infantry-centric battlefield. One thing is coordinating a fleet from the relative safety of the flagship, one thing is actually being in the trenches. She is just a former senator, and not a murder machine that the emperor is.

I'm against seeing high-ranking officers involved in what is essentially a skirmish game between platoon-sized forces. It would be like playing a game of Bolt Action and having Patton and Rommel on the table :)

We see her a few times in rebels, but she never really takes a leadership role in combat scenarios. It'd be cool if she was part of an objective card escort the VIP or something... that happens a few times on screen.

I'd like to see her, likely as a non combatant based commander. Maybe she has a strong inspire ability and is focused on objective based play giving free movement and generally being able to help against suppression focused lists?

Likewise I'd love to see Jan Dodanna, General Rieekan, Crix Marine, Admiral Ackbar and Wedge Antilles at somepoint as well. I know Admiral Ackbar would be a bit odd but he was more on the ground in Clone Wars and we might very well see Admiral Trench and Grand Admiral Thrawn at somepoint so let's get our favorite Mon Cala admiral as well.

Not interested in the least, I would rather see more iconic characters and ones that at least fought in a land battle

If they came out with her then theyd also come out with Grand Moff Tarkin most likely. Two non-combatant units entirely focused on commanding abilities and boss command cards. Probably be very similar to Krennic except no weapon at all

I'd argue that Tarkin wouldn't be a noncombatant considering he was in the field in rebels, and his background as a hunter as seen in the comics with him hunting Vader and imaging getting into a fist/knife fight with on of the death star gunners.

That said at most I figured he'd just have a blaster similar to the generic officer with a decent unarmed melee and possibly the ability to take a rifle as an upgrade.

Riekaan and Nadine are much better choices; the less politicos in this game the better.

In agreement, unless the were seen in the trenches and combat, like Han and Leia and others

In armada she makes more sense, in legion she kinda sticks out.

Characters like Hera or the other rebels crew make more sense or perhaps Madine or Rieekan.

She shoulda been a Kenner action figure in the 80's. However two wrongs don't make a right, she ought not be in Legion.

I won't say she couldn't or shouldn't be in Legion, but there are many, many more characters that would be much more appropriate. So if we do ever see her I expect it won't be for a very long time.

The president as a platoon commander. And while you are at it, why not the Bathrobe Admiral?

The emperor (I would say Darth Vader) jumped that particular shark a long time ago. Still, no reason to keep jumping it.

It is known that grand moff Tarkin was wearing his slippers around the Death Star...

Darth Vader was never presented as being part of the legislation and governing body.. he was always to me, outside the codified command structure.

I'd be all for Mon Mothma actually.. not that I particularly want to play her, but that the design principle of a non-combatant commander.

i don't think the empire needs a counterpart, and I'd like her to have a limit - so can't take special forces. The character was intensely moral, and didn't endorse the more clandestine and morally ambiguous tactics.

I will more enjoy if I can get a yoda mini.

I missed him while playing imperial assault. I hope I can get one for legion as soon as possible, even if he has only a stick to fight with

So I'm not opposed to them exploring the design space with non-combat commanders, Mon Mothma might have enough lines to turn into command cards too... but there's still I think maybe some characters who use guns or lightsabers who could be in the game first too.

Put all her movie lines on three command cards and she won't have any lines left.

Lando needs to be next

Operative.General.whatever

I have spoken.

I have actually enjoyed reading everyone's input. Maybe, instead of having her as a commander, why not use her as a VIP for the new Vital Assets coming out, or something similar?

Perhaps they could make a set that has Mon Mothma and Tarkin or another Imperial Governor / Moff as hostage models to go with the new Vital Assets expansion coming out?

Maybe opposite an Imperial Dignitary?
