2 ISD Sloan List???(gone sexual?!?)

By Lem213, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So, I was just brain storming another Sloan list(cause Sloan is great), and I thought "what if I did a Corruptor range 8 bomber alpha strike, but without having to use a Vic and also getting to use Sloan?" So I thought Chimaera is a good way to do that, plus after that initial snipe I can swap to any of the other commands for free. The idea to 5 tie fighters sloan striking at range 8 is basically deploy one of the ISDs(the Kuat Avenger)at the edge of your deployment, then drop all the tie fighters at range 2 of the Avenger. Then, turn one you strategic advisor ad then next activation is sending 5 squads at speed 5 with an attack range of 1(for your 2+5+1=range 8 ) to at least pop some shields from a ship. Then you get to move the Avenger speed 3 and start setting up some shots for later on. Chances are your opponent will choose Contested Outpost for the scenario, so you can also just sit the Chimaera on the outpost for some points.

The blaring problem with this list is that if you're playing against a squad heavy fleet those poor ties are going to die and once they are gone they are gone, so best case scenario against squads is you can get 10 blue Sloan shots on turn one, and then they all die(an 84 point sacrifice). You could hold the squads back a turn or two so that they have the support of the ISDs, but that defeats the purpose of the alpha strike. As always, I love to sit here and read your concerns and criticism instead of doing something productive, so let me know what you think!

2 ISDs Sloan List
Author: Lem213

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 400/400

Commander: Admiral Sloane

Assault Objective: Surprise Attack
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

[ flagship ] Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
- Admiral Sloane ( 24 points)
- Chimaera ( 4 points)
- Strategic Adviser ( 4 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
- All Fighters, Follow Me! ( 5 points)
= 179 total ship cost

Imperial Star Destroyer Kuat Refit (112 points)
- Avenger ( 5 points)
- Hondo Ohnaka ( 2 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
- Assault Concussion Missiles ( 7 points)
= 137 total ship cost

9 TIE Fighter Squadrons ( 72 points)
1 JumpMaster 5000 ( 12 points)
= 84 total squadron cost

You have 10 squadrons and can only control 6 (7 with a Hondo squadron token). I would change the Kuat into an ISD-I, BT, Avenger, LS with an optional Expanded Hangarbay. Tua could keep the ECM.

If you want to keep the Kuat for the ACMs and ECM then change the fighters for fewer quality squadrons using Interceptors, Phanthoms or characters. If you keep it add OE to the Kuat as you need a second reroll to guarantee the ACMs.

Drop AFFM and Chimera for points. Imperial squadrons are usually fast enough. SADviser too can go as you have already lost the ship activation battle and changing 2 activation into 3 isn't worth much (Grint could get you extra squadron activations or Brunson for defence or look at Pryce for the last activation guarantee).

I won a small tournament a while ago with something very much like this (Pryce on an BTAvenger ISD-2, Tua ISD-1 supercarrier, Howl and 9 TIEs.)

I’d drop the Jumpmaster for Howl. The beauty of this list is having two types of brute force: if they brought enough squads to stop the TIEs, bash them over the head with the ISDs. If they brought enough ships to drop the ISDs, play the squadron game until you’re ready. The matchups where you need Intel are kind of rare and it’s tough to afford.
