A kids show about a young girl experiencing adventurers as part of a star destroyer crew.
Meant to get the kids excited for taking up a military career early on.

Boy when I started this thread I had no idea how cool some of these ideas would be.

I also didn't expect so many to be dark takes on Imperial life.

Eh, that's kinda what you bargain for when you ask hardcore SW fans for media ideas. It's probably not so much wanting Imperial stories, and more just that the Imperial side is almost never covered, so it ends up being an untold story.

But that scene in Mando ep 8 was spot on for "SW Buddy Cop: Bad Guy Edition!"

Yeah. Every time a blow landed my wife yelled how she was going to kill that trooper. Each time was a different method. I was rather impressed. I'm glad she's GMing our next session.

I watched a video of fan reactions presented as a split screen of that scene and the fans as they watched it. Everyone had pretty much identical reactions. Outrage, swearing, and calls for torture and horrible deaths for the scout troopers for hitting baby Yoda, delight when he bit one of their fingers, and then cheering the extreme violence that IG-11 visited on them.

I am pretty sure that is exactly the reaction they wanted. It is like if you want the audience to be ok with someones death have them kick a puppy. Or Hit a priest etc.

I thought their poking fun at the fans with the "you just want to see it" line was pretty tuned-in, too.

1 Platoon Is Enough (Clone Troopers based show about a clone in charge of a group of clones that are just complete idiots. Heavily focused on mistaken identity humor, of people going on dates with the wrong clone, mistakes with parking tickets on different clone's speeders, etc.)

For in-universe visual fiction, the term to look for is "Holodrama", "Holo-Serial", "Holo-film" and "Holo-Play".

One thing to remember is that the holonet and especially subspace relay both have notable lag, and data isn't cheap. Just sending 10 seconds of data on subspace costs ~5 credits, and sending it via holo is massive in cost. As such remote shopping resembles the Sear's Catalog (examine the Galladinium's catalog, write your desired order down and mail it with your payment info) more than Amazon. Transmitting TV shows that may or may not be watched likely isn't cheap.

I'd imagine that filmed fiction in the Star Wars universe falls into a few categories

1: What's made locally within the system.

2: Delayed broadcasts of popular core programs

3: Vast troves of public domain material distributed on physical media. Remember that just the Republic is thousands of years old, and Holos at least several thousand (as they appear in Tales of the Jedi). Non-holo fiction can also include the works of its member planets which are even more ancient (no doubt the Corellian system has endless adaptations of Rastus Khal's adventures).

Hah, that's cute. You clearly know nothing about me. If you were actually at all familiar with my posts on this forum, you would know I don't hate Star Wars at all. If anything I hate the fanbase, for their insane, immature behavior regarding Star Wars. I'm actually a very positive person, but the fact is that the fans of this franchise, need a serious reality check about their priorities, when engaging the rest of the world about the product. Because they take this stuff WAY too seriously, and behave terribly as a result. nega-hipster. *snerks* cute.

IIRC, someone on one of the forums here had a SW tabletop group whose characters - due to some necessary quick thinking to avoid Imperial suspicion early on in the campaign - became the cast and crew of a reality holo-series entitled "Dinner on the Rim", a sort of travelling foodie/tourist show which became quite popular.

On tonight's program: We see if anyone outside of the Five Brothers can make a decent Karelian Corellian Pie.
