Is Armada dying ??

By Kramerr, in Star Wars: Armada

Is Armada seeing the same fate as Imperial Assault ?? Looking at getting into this game, but if it is on its way out......there is no sense in starting.....

Clone Wars content is already announced as coming in 2020. I doubt they'd kill a game right after starting two new factions.

It actually already died. A dozen or more times in fact! You can search the forums and see all the documentation of how it has died again and again.

[In fact the game is alive and well. The doomsayers will always be around to cast doubt.]

If you're just getting you'll be fine. There's literally thousands of dollars of product available to buy, and by the time you get done doing all that, the Clone Wars factions will be out with what FFG is calling "an accelerated release schedule"

Armada has been on a rough 1-2 releases per year schedule for a while now. With Rebellion in the Rim, the SSD, and soon to be the Starhawk and Onager, Armada is sitting in a good place. Now is hardly a bad time to get into the game.

"Armada is dying" is a bit of a meme around these parts. The game's room has been lamented all the way back in wave 2 (for some quality entertainment, look up posts by one "Admiral Nelson"). The game sells perfectly well and tournament attendance has remained steady. ****, Miniature Market announced that the SSD was their #9 highest selling product of the year and that was calculated by number of expansions sold, not cost! The dearth of releases for a while didn't seem to phase the community, at least in terms of number of people playing.

In addition, as Quadro said, Clone Wars has also been confirmed for somewhere around Q3-Q4 2020. FFG has promised to temporarily ramp up Armada production during the Clone Wars launch to flesh out those factions quickly.

What is dead may never die.

Just checked this; A $200 Armada mini outsold booster boxes of a new Magic set. This game is doing just fine.

Only advice I'd give is to check the status of your local community before spending to deep. While the game overall is healthy, if no one else is playing within 100 miles of you, then you won't get much value for money out of your Armada.

Game is alive, but slightly more niche than most other war games that are big.

Still, it's easy to get a friend in. Catch a core set on sale, throw it at them, play a game, and they'll probably be in if they're a star wars fan.

No. It living. Growin in areas, reducing in others organically.

Now lets move on

Time for these threads to die. They’re misleading now.

The game is more alive than in years, expansions recently released, on the way and supposedly huge plans for next year...why even ask this right now?

Holy crap, two releases a year?

Huh, learn something new every day. Crap isn't caught by the censor.

Best FFG can offer is an extra stream starting from round 2 of a game.

For academic purposes...

😂

Now there is a question I haven’t heard in a long time... a long time.

We're facing what X-Wing experienced with the release of scum... except it's worse then that. There's stuff for you if you enjoy clone wars.

Nothing for you if you don't.

4 years of stuff for you if you don't, plus the chance of more in the future, we don’t know.

I think availability of current stock has something to do with OP's perception. While the forum is active, if there are less or no goods on the shelves it is physically harder to see or to keep the game alive in one's region. ffg NEEDS to restock.

...and I'm not looking forward to four years of Clone wars ship releases into the future. Lets hope card pack releases can ease the sting of no new ship classes.

I was looking forward to the Imperial Dreadnought and the Arrestor Cruiser. I was also holding out hope for the Legends MC40a and the Nebulon-B2. Fat chance of those happening while we play in Clone Wars.

Why are we convinced there are no new GCW ship classes coming for so long? Have they said so?

Fair enough. Perhaps the clone wars core set will be a "2nd" edition and they dont want to reprint anything now if they plan on repackaging it next year.
