Combat Rules Timing Questions

By AradonTemplar, in Marvel Champions: The Card Game

I'm really enjoying the new cards, but am having trouble figuring out exact timings for some attack sequences.

1. Retaliate happens after the attack is fully resolved, correct? If you defeat Modok, does his Retaliate 2 hit you back? Edit: rulebook clearly says defeated enemies don't retaliate.

2. Nova says that when an enemy initiates an attack against you, you can pay an energy to deal 2 damage. If you defeat the enemy with that damage, do you still take damage?

3. Ultron stage 1 makes a drone after he attacks you. If you block with an ally, is a drone created?

4. Daredevil thwarts with 2 damage on him already. The consequential damage will kill him. Is the 'thwart action' done before consequential damage is applied, or does he die before he can trigger his free point of damage?

And one miscellaneous question. Interrogation Room says 'when you defeat an enemy.' Is this distinct from 'when an enemy is defeated?' Does it matter if I'm involved with the defeat of an enemy or not? For example, let's say I'm Captain Marvel and have Interrogation Room in play. An Ultron drone attacks Black Panther and dies to his retaliate. Can I trigger Interrogation Room?

Sorry, I must have been really tired when I posted this last night. Some of these questions were simply wrong in text/templating (like Nova), and #1 was directly spelled out in the rulebook. I edited it for a bit of clarity, but I'd still appreciate some confirmation for #3 and #4.

From what I understand:

2. Since Nova deals the damage when the attack is initiated, if the enemy is defeated, the attack never resolves and the damage is not dealt.

3. Since the effect is that the drone is created after he attacks, it doesn't matter if an ally blocks or not, the drone is still created.

4. The consequential damage doesn't happen until all of his abilities trigger. This one has been mentioned before, though I can't remember exactly where.

I think the ruling I saw for #4 you might be thinking of was Tigra, who gets to heal herself before consequential damage. I wasn't sure if it applied here, because she triggered from "after Tigra attacks and defeats an enemy" (and hence the defeat might happen before the attack was complete), but I think it's fair to say it has to be after the attack is done, too, so you're probably correct.

As for number 3, does it matter that Ultron I says 'after Ultron attacks you' vs 'after Ultron attacks'? If you block with your ally, he's considered to be attacking the player that controls the ally, then?

Thanks!

Yeah, the ally belongs to "you", so regardless of whether or not the ally blocks, the drone is coming down. I believe that means that, if somebody else blocks the attack for you, either using their hero or an ally, they'll get the drone instead of you. I mostly base that off of the fact that if you were playing Spiderman and somebody else blocked for you, it's been clarified that you wouldn't get to trigger Spidey's ability to draw a card because the attack has shifted to the other person.

And that Tigra thing sounds about right, though I could swear I'd seen something similar for another ally. Regardless, it makes sense that the damage wouldn't resolve until after the action resolves, because the action is what is causing the damage in the first place.

Ultron II says "When he attacks you" (different than Ultron I, havent played him in awhile)
