Question on actions

By MausV, in X-Wing Rules Questions

We always play that stressed ships can't perform actions unless specifically mentions. Whilst looking for my next Republic ship I found some lines in the second paragraph: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2019/8/28/lead-the-attack/

I read this as: Anakin can perform an action to help in getting rid of stress.

Did I miss something, are we playing wrong?

The only reference I see in the article to Anakin and actions is using pre cognitive reflexes to take an action before he moves. This could allow him to boost or barrel roll so that after taking a red maneuver he is facing a ship the right way to trigger his ability to remove stress.

Anakin' s ability is not an action. If the specific conditions are met his pilot ability allows him to spend a force token to remove a stress token.

His ability triggers before the Perform Action step. So he can trigger it, remove the stress, then be stress free to perform an Action.

No, the article wording is just not good and to condensed...

What they meant is like other said here: Normally you want to do a Red Maneuver and end up properly to remove the stress that the Red Maneuver would give. If you think your Red Maneuver would not be enough, you could use precognitive reflexes to try to reposition yourself first.

But you can't start with a stress and use precognitive reflexes to reposition yourself first, this does not work
