Double C-ROCs

By Kleeg005, in X-Wing Epic Play

We had a pleasant little menage a trois at the FLGS last night, 200 points each. One side with Maul, Dooku, and Sear; one side with Stridan, Quickdraw, and Static; and me with two C-ROCs. They were trying out presents - I was testing out some theories. My full build:

Syndicate Smugglers (58)
Stalwart Captain (6)
Point-Defense Battery (10)
Damage Control Team (3)
Tibanna Reserves (3)
Deadman's Switch (2)
Merchant One (8)
Corsair Refit (15)
Jamming Beam (0)
IG-RM Droids (2)

Ship total: 107 Half Points: 54 Threshold: 8

Syndicate Smugglers (58)
Ion Cannon Battery (6)
IG-88D (3)
Chewbacca (Scum) (4)
Bombardment Specialists (6)
Corsair Refit (15)
Jamming Beam (0)

Ship total: 92 Half Points: 46 Threshold: 8

Total: 199

I'm not going to do a turn by turn report - there was too much going on to recall all of it, and I forgot to take pictures. I will, however, give some general conclusions.

1) Corsair Refit. I don't like it. I mean, ****, I missed those shields. I only used Jamming Beam twice, and only once to any effect except the loss of energy to take the bonus attack. Now, if it allowed me to equip a Torpedo instead of a Missile? Maaaaaaaybe.

2) Point Defense Battery. I don't like it on C-ROCs. I only managed to use it for a total of seven shots, and only put in three points of damage rolling 18 dice. Scum just doesn't have enough sources of passive mods to make it worthwhile, nor the action economy to recover the energy.

3) Ion Cannon Battery. LOVE it. I ionized the Upsilon, twice. I ionized Sear, twice. I ionized Dooku and Maul. And the crits? Hot dog! Bombardment Specialists are stapled to the ICB.

4) Double C-ROCs are...okay?...for casual play. Dunno. I ended winning by running over Quickdraw before he had a chance to murder my Ion ship - the PDB ship had already been deleted in just two rounds of fire, as the crits were DEVASTATING. Players who understood the full potential of their lists would likely have just plain ruined my beasts, but I might give this oh-so-casual list another shot. With some tweaks, of course.
