RitR: What are "all the obstacles"?

By DerRitter, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hello, quick question here. When playing a Ritb (or any 3x3 btw):

1 How many obstacle do you place?

2 When an objective says: "place all the obstacles plus X" how many obstacles are placed?

My guess is that "all the obstacles are the ones than come in the core set (3 Asteroid Fields, 2 Debris Fields, 1 Station), buy that leads to some very crowded games.

  1. The default is 6, the ones from the Core Set (according to the FAQ), and you can't switch things out (so having multiple of the same asteroid),
  2. The standard 6, plus any extra ones you are told to add in, less any ones it says not to include.

Generally the RitR objectives remove obstacles if they add some more in, so it shouldn't get too bad. But yes, 7 or so obstacles in a 3 x 3 is pretty crowded. But at the same time, generally you have smaller ships.

Also worth remembering that while playing with a 3' x 3' Play Area, the obstacles have to be beyond distance 3 of all the edges of the Play Area; not just beyond distance 3 of the player edges.

Thanks! just played Rift Ambush is a really crowded space, pretty much every single ship stepped in at least 2 obstacles.

Not a good place for double victorys

Where is that stated? because I know that most games of my group haven't done this.

Page 10 of the Armada Rules Refference:

"5 . Place Obstacles: Starting with the second player, the players take turns choosing and placing six obstacles into the play area. Obstacles must be placed within the setup area, beyond distance 3 of the edges of the play area and beyond distance 1 of each other."

The ever elusive bit of info that's not in the RitR booklet...

For our store campaigns we have been playing that obstacles can be placed within distance 3 of the play area and it doesn't feel unbalanced.
