Embiggen w/Melee

By OttRod, in Marvel Champions: The Card Game

Embiggen is a 2 cost upgrade for Ms Marvel that reads:

Hero Interrupt: When you play an Attack event, exhaust Embiggen! → increase the amount of damage that event deals by 2.

Melee is a 3 cost Aggression attack event that reads:

Hero Action (attack): Deal 3 damage to an enemy. Deal 3 damage to another enemy.

So you can essentially do 5 / 5 using Embiggen on two enemies, bring it back into your hand with Ms Marvel's response and then possibly play it again for another 3 to each enemy. Seems overpowered, no? You could possibly play the first Melee for 1 resource using Nakia's ability, flipping to Ms Marvel and using Biokinetic Polymer suit and still have plenty of resources to get the Melee out one more time for 3 resources. Could be 16 damage split between 4 enemies at a cost of 4 total resources if you board state is set up correctly.

Why would it increase both instances of dmg?

Embiggen increases the amount of damage on the event. Both damage instances are on the event card.

It’s been ruled by the developers that it does work. I don’t feel like it’s over powered though - it’s a good combo though.

I meant OP w/Ms Marvel. 10 damage at 3 cost? It's a better swinging webkick although it's situational.

It’s not 10. It’s 5 + 5.

Two different targets.

Which makes it more valuable IMO. Gives flexibility when dealing with numerous enemies. Have been may times using webkick where I haven't gotten full use of all 8 attack.

Right. It’s just that you said: “10 damage at 3 cost? It's a better swinging webkick”

but it’s not 10. It’s 5+5. Which as you say, is different. And sometimes better. Other times you’ll be in a race to kill the villain and would much prefer 8 damage to 5.

For reference, Where did they say this?

Someone on Facebook asked it as a question and got this response:

It’s situationally better if you have a nasty minion to deal with. Otherwise it’s a fair bit worse...

That definitely makes me happier about Attack, however. (Otherwise, it was a slightly better Uppercut)
