Dual Star Cruisers (Kyrsta) / Dual Battle Cruisers (Leia)

By grunnax93, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So on the weekend I had a screw around with two experimental lists, also to try out something where squadrons were not the primary focus as I tend to almost exclusively play squadron fleets.

So here is the first fleet I took out, the Kyrsta Agate Tanker and Flanker. Worked out pretty well, Kyrsta Agate's Star Cruiser being built to face tank the opponent, and would take a Second Redirect against fleets not running XI7 Turbolasers, if XI7 Turbolasers were prolific, a Third Brace was taken instead. The Mon Karren mostly throwing Navigation Commands every turn to be able to get into position to hit the flanks and eventually the rear. Being able to use defense tokens against BT-Avenger through Kyrsta's discard effect was incredibly awesome. The squadron play was a little tricky due to the low count, but the squadrons I took was to try and shutdown Maarek and Jendon, mostly kept them out of range to be attacked by enemy squadrons and in a position to counter play and punish enemy squadrons for jumping on my ships.

So here is the second fleet I took out, the Leia Exodus Battle Cruisers. So this fleet runs into the usual issue of small ship count which is low activation count, which is why I took Strategic Adviser and a bid to try and snag second player. Leia is to provide full value for Engineering Commands to get Engineering 6 + 2 from Exodus Fleet. Fleet was a little tricky to fly but had plenty of firepower and tankability. Squadrons taken is the same reason as the previous fleet.

I have such a hard time justifying Leia over Agate + a Hondo Comms net GR75 for basically the same price. It’s probably even better to just run Bail rather than hope to meet 2 or 3 activation fleets.

That said, I love the bulky Liberties. Makes me want to buy another and try it with Star Cruisers.

I can understand a MC80 Star Cruiser as a flanker, but why tank with it?

MC-75 or a MC-80 command/assault cruiser seem more durable, Star Cruiser doesn't even have a defense slot?

If I am missing something please let me know why you went with that ship as to me it always seemed like a flanking ship because it is the fastest large base(with engine techs)
