RitR: Command Ship Upgrades

By Solaris00, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

In the Command Ship Upgrade section for the Final Pivotal Battle Upgrades, it states that "When a player resolves either effect, that player's team may spend one ally token to add 45 fleet points to that player's available total.

Two questions:

1. What can those 45 points be spent on? Is it the standard effect off adding one ship with no upgrades OR up to three non-unique irregular squadrons. Or does this allow you to add up to 45 fleet points to that fleet in the form of any upgrades that you can equip to any ships still in your fleet, including the new large ship.

2. I am assuming that this means that another player on the team can't spend an ally token for it's standard effect?

It just seems odd to me to have the ally token mentioned in the text without specifying what it is actually for other than adding points to the fleet. It also seems odd to me that you could add a large ship to your fleet but only have the upgrades from the ships that you removed available to it.

Thanks

Also if I remove say a TRC90, would I get 44 points to add towards a large ship OR 51 points, because of TRC's?

When you consider that RitR is representative of lesser fleet captains and less famous people, requisitioning reinforcements and getting something sub par you need to outfit yourself does kinda make sense.

For a final pivotal battle, I’d honestly say all bets are off - the 45 bonus is straight up a 45 blanket bonus, no questions asked. You are intending on making the battle epic after all, it’s the finale!

This is my interpretation, but the rule does seem rather ambiguous.

Regarding the Ally token spent during the Command Ship Upgrade, I think it means it adds 45 points to the amount the player can spend to purchase a huge or large ship. I believe the total it refers to is the total of the ships and squadrons that were removed.

Regarding whether an Ally token can be spent before this, I don't see why the they couldn't. The Final Pivotal Battle is still a battle, and should follow the rules for Ally tokens on page 22 of the manual.

Regarding adding the value of the TRC to your total, I don't think you do. I posted a similar question in the following thread, but we never came to a conclusion. I also emailed FFG for clarification but never heard back on it.
