RitR pilot Defection

By DrakonLord, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So i figured this was the best topic area to post in, if not let me know and ill move it.

Ok so backstory: playing RitR, pilot Defection was chosen.

As first player i added 3 Tie fighters to my opponents fleet.

Q1: 24pts of 3 non unique squadrons, was this correct?

Then we played the game, i tabled my opponent T6 and had not declared a defector, nor was i planning to. I read the wording as "...the first player MAY assign..." meaning i can choose not to defect a squadron i had given 2nd player.

Q2: is this correct?

And finally now we (the players) are wondering if pilot defection should not be played as it doesnt seem to really help 2nd player at all and im on the fence. On one hand i played the objective to the best way it benefitted me, on the other hand it gave me as first player the advantage when usually its second player that gets the advantage. Thoughts?

Sorry that rambled btw ^_^

TL/DR

1) was the mission played correctly?

2) what is your opinion on the, fairness (for lack of better word) of the objective?

1) Yes, to declare a defector is optional.

2) I haven't played it yet, but the advantage for the second player is having 3 additional squadrons, worth at worst 21 or 24 points. It's not as good as other objectives but not too bad either in my opinion.

If you keep the defector alive its 25 pts and whatever that other squads are worth if you kill them.

Doesn't matter much if you table your opponent but it can make the difference between a W or L.
