And I mainly fly Rebel Alliance. If I had one, I could also use a BTL-S8 K-Wing. But at a glance it looks like an even worse bomber then the Y-Wing when it comes to speed and maneuverability. It's only real advantage looks to be the ability to carry two types of bombs. Oh, and none of the rebel ships that can carry bombs have a Sensor slot. Come to think of it, the Galactic Empire bombers don't have one either.
Yeah - those aren't the best ships for bombs or mines; I can see why you've had problems using them. The Decimator's a blunt object that can take a lot of hits but has no maneuverability, the Rebel Y-Wing's going to be able to move faster but not very far out of arc either way with its dial, and the Striker - well, I really have no idea what the Striker can do.
The K-Wing is actually a very useful bomb dropper. You can SLAM with it, so you can drop something during the System phase and then hightail it out of there if you're willing to go without shots with it for a round. I'm surprised you can't get a 1.0 version on the secondary market.
The upside with using the Y-Wing and the Decimator is that if you use low initiative ones, you can drop something and then block your opponent's moves so that they take full impacts. Both are very tough, and the Y-Wing can equip a turret, so you can also elect to drop, get out of the way enough that you can still bring your turret to bear, and then shoot at the ships on your back.
As I was writing, your latest response came up. I think @SabineKey is actually talking about 2.0 TIE Punishers, which do have the slot, but if I'm understanding you correctly, you didn't say that you had one of those (unless you mean the Punisher when you say Striker). Punishers are medium-base, Strikers are small-base.
