Been a long time since any ships were announced.

What ships am I using? Uhm... Rebel BT-A4 Y-Wing, Imperial Tie/SK Striker, and imperial VT-49 Decimator are my only options for using bombs. And I mainly fly Rebel Alliance. If I had one, I could also use a BTL-S8 K-Wing. But at a glance it looks like an even worse bomber then the Y-Wing when it comes to speed and maneuverability. It's only real advantage looks to be the ability to carry two types of bombs. Oh, and none of the rebel ships that can carry bombs have a Sensor slot. Come to think of it, the Galactic Empire bombers don't have one either.

Yeah - those aren't the best ships for bombs or mines; I can see why you've had problems using them. The Decimator's a blunt object that can take a lot of hits but has no maneuverability, the Rebel Y-Wing's going to be able to move faster but not very far out of arc either way with its dial, and the Striker - well, I really have no idea what the Striker can do.

The K-Wing is actually a very useful bomb dropper. You can SLAM with it, so you can drop something during the System phase and then hightail it out of there if you're willing to go without shots with it for a round. I'm surprised you can't get a 1.0 version on the secondary market.

The upside with using the Y-Wing and the Decimator is that if you use low initiative ones, you can drop something and then block your opponent's moves so that they take full impacts. Both are very tough, and the Y-Wing can equip a turret, so you can also elect to drop, get out of the way enough that you can still bring your turret to bear, and then shoot at the ships on your back.

As I was writing, your latest response came up. I think @SabineKey is actually talking about 2.0 TIE Punishers, which do have the slot, but if I'm understanding you correctly, you didn't say that you had one of those (unless you mean the Punisher when you say Striker). Punishers are medium-base, Strikers are small-base.

Strikers can carry bombs, and I've seen them get a bit more use out of them then the Y-Wing does due to the improved mobility getting a "free" boost provides. On the rare occasions I chose to fly Imps, I put proximity mines on the Striker since it can't reload anyway. And maybe Skilled Bombardier so I don't have to get quite as close to be effective with the mines.

The thing about action bombs was that you didn't even need to tail the bomber to get nailed - they could fly right past you and drop it on your face with little warning.

A jank way to do this is using a low initiative ship that can launch devices with a fuse. Fly in, next round launch the device with a fuse, activate your low I bomber to fly over & use the fuse, then opponent activates and detonates the device.

Add list; wrong list

Honestly I think I could see both Protons and Seismics going back down a point. They were pretty strong before, but mainly because TrajSim and Redline were obscenely cheap. Even with TrajSim at 8, 12 points is steep for throwing bombs that you'll probably have to take damage from, and it is strictly limited to the system phase.

I personally think that the mechanics of 2.0 bombs are really solid, but it's quite telling that only Proximity Mines are really used right now, except in edge cases. Not to mention I really want to use my TIE Bombers as the surprisingly good bomb filler they used to be before Barrage ruined them. 2 Proton Bombers for 66 points is a pretty fun way to start a list, and 6 proton bombers was genuinely hilarious; I once caught an X-Wing in 4 bomb blasts at once.

Mind you, I can see ships destroying themselves trying to get those munition catches too. I mean, think about it. You're potentially taking damage to land on the rock. You're a sitting duck while getting the catche. And then you can potentially take damage when moving off of the rock too.

Apart from the Vultures (named by @codytx2) and Hyenas, you also have the Mining Guild Tie Fighters and Scum crew carriers with Q'ra which can ignore that aspect. The MGTs still have the penalty of not being able to fire.

What ships are you using? Scum and Resistance have the best bomb-droppers, in my experience. Emon Azameen is great!

Not to forget Sol Sixxa with Skilled Bombardier equipped!

Only if the ship or upgrade says to (IE Traj sim, Zuvio and Bombardment Drone).

Not a launch, but you even have the edge case of Finch Dallow, who has as an extra the ability to instead of drop do a "place".

Still, most ships will be risking damage to get a munitions catche. Although, now I'm picturing a Raider captain trying to get catches and swearing up a storm because his ship keeps destroying them :)

When everyone is sucker enough to rebuy all the stuff they already bought, why make new ships?

It’s called EXPANDING MY COLLECTION! It’s RESPECTABLE! I can make WINGS with them! STOP JUDGING ME, YOU’RE NOT MY REAL DAD!

I'm limiting myself to one each of Medium or Large ships, 3 each of small ships, and one each of Huge ships. Course, the duplicates are only coming about now that I have 1 each of the currently released ships for my faction.
