The luck of Thieves help desk

By Grimhawk90, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Greetings everyone, My name is Grimhawk and I have been DMing a combination of edge of the empire and force of destiny game for about the past year.

I have reached a point where my knowledge and creativity has hit a road block and wanted to bounce some ideas around to the community.

i decided to have a jedi trail. in a someone interesting way. the PC could bring one other PC besides her master. the other will have their hands full while fighting a sith lord flanked by storm troopers. its sort of a season finale.

two things I kinda need help with.

one: i wanted the battle and the trail to go on simultaneously for every dice roll that takes place during the trail add a round of combat outside. wanted to see what you all thought of that.

and two: im having some trouble coming up with ideas for thew trails them selves.

skill: was thinking a good one for this would be a group of all sentinels, they cant win but thats not the point.

courage: having a vision of her comrades Die outside would be fun, but I also thought it would be fun to split up the two in a maze and having them find each other would be fun to.

spirit : this one is a little tricky, I don't use the conflict system so I was thinking about a dark side of her rising.

flesh : I have a real evil one for this but would like to explore other ideas. only one may continue if you catch my drift

insight : TBA

this is all i have so far. but I want to explore more options of them completing the task together. and a way of keeping the combat threatening. the whole point of this is that it is a trail against the clock

I want to thank you all in advance and may the force be with you.

It's an interesting idea and one you see often played out in movies/tv but may be more difficult to pull off in RPG. Don't get too tied down on the roll for roll aspect of it and instead focus on the challenge for challenge portion of it.

While somewhat standardized, these trials are often customized to the individual. The Jedi Master will know the student's strengths and weakness and will set the challenge to focus on these. Some of the Skill challenges will specifically focus on the person's weakness while other portion of the test will be something they are very good at. It may be more demoralizing to fail at something they are known for doing well.

Do you have the F&D supplements? one of them has info on Jedi Trials. I am AFB so I can say which one. I am sure someone here can point to which book. If not when I get home I will find it and post which book.

Yes, both the consular and the nexus of power books. And while I did like them the story so far is that this challenge is for the new generation of Jedi. And the trail does include some one who is not force sensitive. Though it would be intresting idea anyway

Hm, you maybe right on that first point. But I'm not sure how else to get Across the pressure of time. Any thoughts? And I'm still and will probably be coming up with the trails right up until the game itself.

take a look at the crucible episodes of the Clone Wars Cartoon. It has a set of Younglings each who have to overcome a different fault to get their crystal. should give you some ideas.
