Ugh, I really wish Attack Wing wasn't such a disaster of a game. The IP does a **** of a lot more for me than SW, but it's a game with far too many problems to soend time with.

Annoyingly Dungeons and Dragons attack wing was a much better balanced, better thought through game with a lot of tweaks that have since made it through into either Star Trek Attack Wing or X-wing (for example, 'wing over' - aka barrel roll - being an exhausting action - aka red action - for the mostly large base dragons, 'time tokens' which behave suspiciously like 2nd editions recover-one-a-turn charges, and so on)

The problem was people had gotten put off too much by the awful balance issues of Star Trek Attack Wing (seriously, you thought first edition X-wing was bad, go read the stats for the Borg) and...frankly by how awful the wizkids D&D pre-paints looked, and never got as far as reading the rules.

What was the old unbeatable combo again? A Cube with Picard as captain, because nobody thought captains should be faction specific? Smart.

Yeah the minis also looked appalling. The sculpts weren't great, but the paint was even worse. When Armada came out, I immediately pined for what could have been with the ST franchise in that system.

Go the shedinja route. 1 hp but make it so all [hit] results are always cancelled; when you are not in the attacker's bullseye, change all crits to hits. Make it rebel faction for more spice.

As a Shedinja fan, I approve wholeheartedly.

You also had similar stuff for a handful of other factions around the same time. Almost everyone's torpedoes were more or less equivalent to X-wing proton torpedoes, aside from Voyager's unique Transphasic Torpedoes - a ten (10!) attack dice secondary attack.

I'm sorry...you wanted to actually get to use that ship? Nope!

Red dice inflation went off the charts far, far faster with the Star Trek version, and the 'dogfighting' mechanic never quite felt right for what are, fundamentally, big capital ships. But then giving them 360' arcs also screwed things over for exactly the same reason it did in X-wing.

Maybe some sort of suicide drone:

0/3/1/0, When you are destroyed, each other ship at range 1 suffers 2 damage. Ships at range 0 suffer 2 crits. Action: suffer 1 damage.
