Q on Well-Prepared

By Krysmopompas, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Hey all, never really used this card for some reason but find myself with xp to use. Say I'm playing Carolyn and have Ancient Stone: Minds in Harmony up (2 Will icons). I put Well-Prepared into play.

Does WP allow me to exhaust WP for +2 to any test, or would I only exhaust to get +2 on a Will test?

thanks, always confused me.

Morning Krysmopompas,

The text on Well Prepared's ability reads:

Quote

Fast Action: Exhaust Well Prepared: Choose an asset you control. You get +X skill value for this skill test, where X is the number of matching skill icons on the chosen asset.

The important word in there, as far as I'm aware, is "matching" - the icons have to match up with the skill test you're making in order to provide a benefit to the skill test, in the same way they would if you committed a card to the skill test.

If you can get an asset with ? icons into play - especially with multiple ? icons, like Mitch Brown in a Leo deck - then the card becomes absurd.

Can consider using wp with physical training(2) for a normal guardian if you have the exp to spare.

That's certainly a nice one. I use Well Prepared all the time when I am using the shotgun (which ends up being most of my guardians) since the shotgun really wants large to hit bonuses on each shot, and has 2 combat icons. Well prepared is not unique and nothing stops you from using 2 copies on the same skill check if you want.

Zoey's cross is Combat/Combat/Wild. So that's pretty good too.

It also means every Guardian gets right of first refusal on the Relic of Ages (3 wild).

Relic of the Ages is awesome with it, can confirm. Speaking of the Forgotten Age, if you can't get the Relic, Alejandro and Ichtaca are pretty good too.
