How long do reprints take?

By Supertoe, in Marvel Champions: The Card Game

Hey, so not everyone pre-ordered the game packs, and with FFG moving up the release date, there are no more pre-orders. In lord of the rings I know reprints often took up to a year, does anyone who played a more recent game know how long it will be until the packs are reprinted?

By the way it really sucks that FFG is deciding not to make a retailed version available. Seems like they only printed the copies people pre-ordered, knowing full well that people would might wait to buy the pack for various financial reasons, or simply just wanting to see reviews (aka see that the deck is over 15% reprints).

Edit: Just realized this also locks non-American fans of the game out of purchases/preorders during the whole month leading up to the release across the pond as well. Oof. I feel even worse for you guys, who knows how long non-English reprints are going to take.

Lotr has that issues with reprints now but when it was new it did not. I would anticipate another round of prints pretty quick

Uh... what? Is there a reason you seem to think it won’t be available in retail? I’d check with your local game store about ordering you a copy: I messaged mine less than a week ago and they said they could get those packs for me on the 20th.

Out of print already? I haven't even decided if I want to buy it yet.

I dont think out of print is the right wording. More that the first run maybe sold out. That also is still an unsubstantiated claim at this point too.

Op, is your claim based of the fact that you cant pre order anymore?

Yeah. With every other FFG game I've gotten (the most recent example being the core), they've had orders up consistently throughout. I'm pretty sure they stopped being called pre-orders at some point, but you could always order them.

Yeah it is weird. But to be honest the whole release of this game has been weird...... lol

Someone messed up at some point and FFG has been reacting to that mess up.

If all of the first packs initial printings are sold out that will be a huge miss on FFG's part and an indication they massivly underestimated the game

Hopefully though, the packs not being available for order is more of them reacting to that initial plunder

What on earth are you talking about? The official release is December 20th for the US. You will be able to buy your packs in stores the 20th. If they are nowhere to be found on the 20th only THEN can you make this claim. Until then this is just unsubstantiated fear-mongering.

As for non-US releases, FFG just posted this on twitter yesterday:

"Hello, everyone! We have received new updates! In Europe, English versions will be available in selected retailers after Dec. 20th. In France, the French version will be available after Jan. 10th. For more information, contact your local distributor."

My local store owner told me last night that the 20th was a limited quantity release date. That more packs would come after the holiday. So I am thinking if you didn't pre-order you might be out of luck on the 20th.

What it sounds like is that FFG air freighted a few cases of the first three packs when it became apparent people were clamoring for more content sooner and they're betting (wisely) that it will help increase the post-holiday sales momentum (which will make up for the expense of the air freighting).

Ah, so there will still be a full release at the normal January time slot? That would be awesome. I don't care about Dec vs. Jan, just Dec vs. June haha.

Well, if they've run out already, maybe that means the game has been more popular than anticipated. Which would be a good sign, yes?
