Advanced sensors and Naboo Fighters

By Andyf1702, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If you used advanced sensors to do a boost, and the did a 3 straight, would you still get the evade token using a Naboo Fighter?

No. It's not an evade token it's an evade action and AS prevents you taking further actions during your activation after you use it.

@Andyf1702 note this also means you cannot perform Linked actions if you use AS.

So the activation phase include the movement and perform action step?

I thought AS just stopped you doing the perform action step, which is why I asked the question.

That is how 1st edition advanced sensors work. 2nd edition doesn't allow you to take any actions again during your activation. This includes afterburners, fine tuned controls, and full throttle.

If only Pattern Analyzer had the same stipulation...

PA has the requirement of a executing Red maneuver, which limits how often you can trigger it. It also doesnt prevent you from still gaining a stress from that maneuver. Just because 1 pilot can "abuse" it, doesnt mean the upgrade is broken. It just means that pilots cost needs to be adjusted (if it even becomes a problem, which im not really seeing it being abused).

It appears I touched a nerve. I just like internal consistencies on my cards. PA and Advanced Sensors don't have such a consistency. Same reason Paige and Deathfire irk me - it is inconsistent with other rulings in the game.

I just want to note one thing: sometimes it's better if excessive combos don't exist, even if they could have points adjusted to be fair. Nien Nunb can be a bit of a PITA, and it's not too odd to see him being a massive bully in some games. Sure, the price could get hiked, but a version of Nien which only ever got the one action, but could shed stress, could be cheaper, and that has a benefit, too.

I've probably said something like this before: I wish there was in-game terminology similar to "bonus attack" for "bonus action" or "bonus device place." That way, the rules could spell out how many normal "thing" and how many "bonus thing."

The inconsistency which irks me most are around a lot of the newer effects which cancel results when attacking or defending, like the Wing leader cards or Treacherous. The early versions all had a really clear timing on the card, and many new ones don't.

No, not really. Their really wasn't any emotion behind that statement.. just intended to inform. Nothing more. Intent can be hard to read in text sometimes ;)
