If I am the only one buying the game to facilitate a four player game, what would be the recommended purchases of Core and Hero packs to ensure flexability and card availability?
2 each or more?
Thanbk you kindly.

All you'd need to share from one core set is the neutrals if you plan on going separate aspects for everyone. If you're supporting 4 decks, each neutral card is a one of in those. Unique cards you can only have one of anyway, as well as the resource cards, so with one core set you're really just looking missing out on some duplicates of neutral cards. So if you REALLY wanted to be able to build for four, you probably just need two, but even still, the hero packs will have some reprints so over time that becomes less necessary. I think you could probably make do with one core, but two if you are dying to remove tenacity/emergency from your decks.
Thank you senor amigo del los rios!
With 1 core and assuming you are only building one deck for each aspect the only thing you will feel a pinch on is avengers mansions and helicarrier. I really wish the core box had come with 8 copies of each of those
I don't feel you will get enough content to make it worth buying 2 cores. Try the game with one. Then I'd wait till you get the Captain America and Ms.Marvel decks to feel if you would need a second core. January is coming quick, but some rumors say it will be sooner for them.

Not rumors, depending on where you are. We’ve seen a confirmed release date for the US at Dec 20th.
DEC 20th??? Same day as my STAH WOOAAHHS???
Oh boy!
Yeah I got my "stuff is mailing soon" email from FFG, which is usually one week prior.
I just don't want to get my hopes up!!!
Or maybe it's hopes crushed...?

They officially announced it on Twitter a couple of days ago:
Yeah I already got shipping info from TC for those packs, and those dates now appear in the upcoming page. So at least in the US that release date is pretty reliable. Not sure why there was so much logistical confusion surrounding this game's start. Hopefully it settles into a regular cadence. Feels like they had a hiccup across the board though because there was a bit of a lag in Arkham Horror releases and there were definite delays in L5R product both around the same time as Marvel Champion's release. I'm guessing they are still trying to normalize their logistical pipeline.
Ayyyyyy, consider my hopes crushed. How long will I have to wait to get the pack on a reprint now? Three months? Six months? That's a bit of a crushing blow for people who hadn't pre-ordered yet (I had to wait for my playtesting credit to come through).
Why on earth is it out of stock when it hasn't even shipped yet? Did they not order any retail copies? This is absurd.
Boooooooooo FFG. Boooooooo.
Edited by SupertoeOr you could just email them a question like: "Hi FFG, I noticed I am not able to preorder Captain America any longer, any idea when I will be able to again?" instead of throwing a tantrum in multiple threads
