Town Hall: Bang For Your Buck!

By Patrick_patrick, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Hello There! We are closing in on Christmas, the New Year, and the next Town Hall! We were so pleased with the response to our first episode and cannot wait for Episode 2! So, lets get started with our Next Episode: Bang for your Buck! Out of the many podcasts we listen to, including our own, we are seeing a theme. In the past, the community podcasters talk about new players getting into the game and making the best list for the lowest amount.

With second Edition it isn’t that simple anymore. We have hyperspace Opens, Extended events, and now Epic and Huge ships are even playable. Here at Recon Specialist we want to give you new players a head start into buying into X-Wing and keeping up at the tables. We are offering a competition to make the best and cheapest(dollar cost) list for all three events for an amazing prize!

Here is how to enter to win a 1st Edition Raider!

We want everyone to create lists that could qualify for a 200 points Hyperspace tournament, a 200 points Extended tournament and a 500 points Epic list! Hold on, it isn’t that easy. You have to make each list with the same faction and the same ships you would need to buy to make a full list! So, if you buy Vader, Sootir and a Grand Inquisitor… that has to go into the Epic list or at the very least goes into the total cost of your list. You also can only use the upgrade cards found in each transaction you decide to purchase. Did I mention you have to keep track of your costs?

We know the importance of Local Gaming Stores, but 2nd Edition has not made it easy for new players and certain ships are not for sale yet. We also want you to create a shopping list for all your ships. You can search online (Ebay, and Amazon), sales at your local store, and even the Facebook market! Compile your list, track your costs through links and submit them here or email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). We will decide the winner and discuss our tops picks live on stream!

FYI: If you want a ship in your list and it doesn’t have a second edition blister than you must include the expansion kit cost as default or the purchase of the cardboard from an online source. If you need an upgrade card that isn’t in the blisters\auctions you “purchased”, you need to add the cost of buying the card individually. If you want a raider in your list, you need to add the cost of an expansion kit or find one through an online market that includes the ship and its 2nd addition pieces.

We know this is a lot to ask for from our community but Padre and I will also be participating just to show how difficult and fun it can be to start from the beginning. I myself bought ships on Ebay, saved for instore purchases and traded upgrades to complete my vast collection. Let us show everyone how to make some solid lists and show FFG where they are leaving their communities newer players. We will be going live December 30th at 9pm EST and all lists must be submitted by December 25th! Good luck to everyone!
