does the auto-pilot drones ability count as purposeful killing of you own ship or is it a forced ability so it is not purposeful.
I ask because at my flgs we play that purposeful killing of your own ship causes you to lose a point.

in game terms, there is no such thing as purposeful or not purposeful. since you're using house rules, you need to decide on this for yourselves.
Autopilot Drone in Aces High? Someone must have lost a bet 🤣
Anyone who doesn't fly autopilot drones in Aces High is a coward.

I dont think you'd make any progress with it. So at best, you'd be a pest.

Wow, what an observation. This guy has vast knowledge of X-wing casual format meta.

Has nothing to do with the meta. Its about mechanics. If you want to play the "i can blow up and not loose points" route, you also have to concede that you are only going to score points by attacking a ship. Blowing yourself up isnt an attack, so killing ships this way, or even damaging them, will net you no victory counters. Thus, you will make no progress toward winning the game. This is also the issue with using bombs or effects like Deadman switch. They will not net you any points either (as the scenario is currently written)
C'mon, folks, play nice. No need for personal attacks. That said...

There's actually *some* merit to using the ship in a lightweight format. Given the fact that you're a ticking time bomb that will go off every 3 rounds, folks have to be careful about getting too close, lest they take unnecessary damage. And if they're more worried about running away from you than attacking, you can use your 2 turns of life to try and score some quick hits, maybe even steal a kill, before starting over... and since self-detonation isn't covered under the rules as a punishable offense (as fleeing the battlefield is), all you need to worry about is not getting shot.
Plus, it's great for trolling! If only you could also add a DMS to the thing...

which is exactly what i said before.
But now that i think about it, I dont even think it would work that well to scare people either. It pops rather easily so people can just gang up on you and kill you in 2 rounds if they are that worried about your bomb. And a 2 die attack isnt that great to land hits, let alone score the first damage or kill shot on a ship. And as you are going on ini 1, they will have plenty of time to kill you.
I mean, itd be fun for laughs i guess, but i dont see it being effective. Its a decent support ship for Other friendly's, but sucks as a solo ship.
Also, if an Autopilot Drone is destroyed by anything other than its ability, then its ability doesn't deal damage; the drone only "detonates" if it has no charges at the end of the activation phase. So not only are you flying perhaps the weakest ship in the game and not scoring any points with your ability, but also you've got a giant target painted on your face.

Yep, thats what i mean.
So, going back, i guess this statement....

is a challenge to try to win Aces high with an autopilot drone. If you manage to do it, it *would* be impressive, as its probably the hardest ship in the game to win that game mode with.
