When do we get the next wave?

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

looking forward to new tech. vonreg esp.

I know some ppl are really going for the fireball here too.

Who knows. FFG has been massively unreliable this past year. We're still waiting for more stock of the epic stuff here (I think we got something like 10 copies of the huge ship conversion kit for the entire country , with 1-3 kits for each of a few shops), and that Q4 release of the card packs is looking extremely unlikely now. I would be very surprised if the new wave launches before February. Then there's the whole Raider/Renegades/Reaper debable.

Honestly, I'm extremely curious as to what's going on here. A couple of years ago, the boat was ionized every so often, but we knew the reason, the release was mostly global with decent stock, and we did get those four waves each year. Now, it's a complete mess. Problems with Asmodee, local distributors, manufacturers, or FFG HQ? Who knows. They certainly aren't talking about it.

Just read the latest updates in the stickied discord thread. TDLR? Feb

Or check the upcoming page, which shows release targets now

You are the first person I have seen that has expressed an interest in the new ships. Most people here are rolling their eyes and asking where these ships came from (they didn't see Resistance).

That page is comically outdated and rarely updated. I think one of the recent products showed Still In Development.

IMO Next tuesday, on FFG live stream.

And I bet that they will have the new ships in hand for Rise of Slywalker

The last we've heard is the following:

  • Damage decks, Hound's Tooth, Interceptor, Defender, RZ-1 A-Wing – December 2019 (note that these are currently scheduled for a separate release from Vonreg's TIE and the Fireball)
  • Never Tell Me the Odds, Fully Loaded – January 2020
  • Vonreg's TIE, Fireball, Hotshots and Aces – February 2020

Not most up to date.

Q: What's the release window on the faction damage decks? the announcement article didn't say and they never went on the upcoming page.

We are currently looking at a January release date, but this is not yet set in stone.

I've seen Resistance, and I'm looking forward to the Fireball. I think it'll be a hoot!

Personally, I think it's a bit dumb to make ships for X-wing that are one of a kind custom ships in the show.

One of my buddies that played a very little bit was at PAX and watched a little bit. He texted me because he thought the ‘little red Interceptor thingie’ looked sweet and he wanted to know when it came out so he could grab one.

Rule of cool, I suppose.

I get that, but then it’s not like there’s really a bunch of Resistance Sympathizers running around together in junked-up YT-1300s either. Nor are you really going to encounter a horde of three Jumpmasters.

Nor one Jumpmaster, at the moment...

Actually it's had a recent overhaul - In Development/At The Printer/On Th Boat were always complete fudges and not kept up to date consistently so they're all gone now, and an expected release month has been added to products that so far tracks along with the live updates to release estimates that are being given out via discord and social media.

I guess so. Also, if you play one of those 2 factions you are probably desperate for something new, as well. Only how many ships?

That is a whole other issue that I dislike. I really hate all the YT's that they made. It's dumb.

I can see the Jumpmasters more. I mean, they are stock ships mass produced. I'm not as worried about someone having a few of them.

I'll believe it when I see it actually be accurate.

Well, I'm #2. I'm looking forward to adding the Fireball to my lists, because I love it's quirky mechanic.

Well, it's not like the first time the game has had more eclectic ships added. I had no idea about the TIE Phantom.

You mean like the Millennium Falcon?? ;)

(Edit: I guess you do. But the YT-1300 is a stock ship, too, just like the JM5K.)

Also, the TIE Soontir Fel is the classic example of a chassis with only one pilot ever used, for almost the entirety of the existence of both editions of the game. People still buy it, people still fly it.

At least these ships are meant to be that way.

It seems to me that most people only ever buy one or two copies of anything. I've seen posts about struggling to fill out wings because folks don't have multiples of anything. So, if that's what FFG sees in terms of sales, they may as well put one-of-a-kind fun ships in the game.

If the scene in the final trailer for RoS is any indication, having a ton of YT-1300s with Resistance Sympathizers piloting them is that much more likely. There could be anything in that flying wall of ships!

I have to admit that I don't remember anything about the ship. I guess I should go back to whatever article talked about it. I think they dropped news around other things I was more interested in. I don't recall anything about the ship for X-wing rules. Either of them.

Tie Phantom is something I can see. An experimental ship that came from some book or video game. It's a cloaked ship and it's cool. It's also a generic ship, though. I just think it's stupid to create a bunch of ships that are all unique and one off, especially small based. I can kind of see the large based ones as you probably aren't going to buy or fly more than one (unless it's broken). Small based, though, will surely see more than one in a list. So, I don't like to see it.

The Fireball can essentially careen around the board at the cost of damage to itself. It's really fast, but really rickety.

Well, it does offer a generic pilot, so you CAN fly a wing of Fireballs.

You just have to be willing to suspend your disbelief.

And, I personally would rather see folks flying a wing of Unique Ships for laughs* over an iconic ship that only has one useful pilot.

*For example, I have 8 (!!) of Sabine's Stolen TIE that I use as Imperial faction when playing team X-wing as Anything But Black Squadron.

You might. I find flapping Xwings stupid. Our opinions are not the majority nor what FFG have to follow. Game play > Fluff and all that. There are already the various one off shuttles for the Rebels show anyway, the various Phantoms of the non-TIE variety.

Agree on game play > Fluff

The Phantom 2 is classed as a Sheatapide class Shuttle sp that would suggest there are more like it not called Phantom 2

Sheatapedes(sp?) were CIS shuttles. You see them actually in the prequel movies if you know what to look for. That said, the Phantom 2 has gone through a few modifications.

I'm definitely interested in the TIE/ba and the fireball looks like a jank list fliers dream.

First order needs variety and this will help. Although I do worry that vonreg will just replace quickdraw. I hope at least one more pilot is viable.

"schnoodle shuttle" is the correct term.

the big question I have is, how long until Attack Shuttle?
