First Order Crew or Don’t forget about Phasma

I feel like Kylo's ability would actually be good with any Marksmanship carrier (...Recoil?!?!...) to get that crit-under-the-shields. Sure it won't do much as far as control goes, but against a Phantom or A-Wing... Maybe it's just wishful thinking.

So one of my iterations had 4 Omega Sq. Pilots with Marksmanship instead of the Epsilons. It was cute, but overall not as strong as the Upsilons. I'd put it on the table again for fun, though.

Recoil is an interesting idea. Maybe in Epic? I hear those Ion Cannon Batteries deal a crit instead of a hit, so there may be something there. Doh! There I go bringing up Epic in a thread about standard play. Bad llama.

With current TIE Silencer prices, Kylo (shirtless), Blackout (Fanatical), Recoil (Marksmanship) is a 200 point list. Not sure if MMS Recoil or if Fanatical Avenger is a better pick for the 3rd ship, or else something cheaper to gain a bid. I almost kind of think I'd rather have Avenger for Fanatical, with hopefully not many bonus actions.

Recoil is an odd duck. The conditions for their pilot ability are really narrow (stressed and range 1), and initiative is kind of low. Against a lot of ships, seems like it might just never trigger.

Ion Cannon Battery seems like a great idea, though. But the Raider does shoot last, so it'll be hard to pop a surprise Blinded Pilot on anyone.

Dormitz/Hyperspace Tracking Data seems like an exception. Neither the ship nor the upgrade has hit the tables since (due to absurd pricing), and either alone is probably fairly wholesome, except in the specific triple Upsilon list. Doing a forward deploy of a bunch of TIE/fo or TIE/sf probably isn't an issue, nor is jacking up their Initiative for deployment. Maybe a fair-price HTD would see some play with regular Upsilon so you don't wind up deployed in the wrong corner.

Yup, these two cards need an errata if they are ever going to be put on the table again.

Dormitz to only work on sml/med bases and HTD to be unique. This would allow them to come back close (or even lower) than they were before the nerf. Both cards are effectively blank as soon as set-up is complete.

I'm not convinced HTD needs to be unique if there was a Dormitz errata. It's large-base only, and if it were restricted to ships starting in the standard deployment zone, I think it's fair. An opponent can easily Rule of 11 you to cancel out your token stack. Meanwhile, an opponent has at least two turns to figure out how to deal with the position.

I'd do Dormitz alone as an errata, cutting the costs of both him and HTD, and if HTD from the standard deployment zone became a problem (it won't), then hit it with the dot. But I really don't think it'd be necessary.

I love the FO, but the only ship I love flying is the Silencer. The FO are restricted severely by having 4 ships. I don’t think the TIE/ba will alleviate things, but may give a few extra options.
As was said before, your crew buy in is 68? Points, then you have to add crew. So instead of having a ship that is a support, you have a ship you have to build your list around as it becomes a points sink and a MoV piñata.

A Gozanti is only 2 points more than an Upsilon, lol.
