Adding Weakness from the collection

By royalfa, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Hi please help me on this:

**SPOILERS** ahead from the Forgotten Age; Scenario VII: The Depths of Yoth.

One resolution tell: " Each investigator... Searches the collection for a random basic INJURY weakness, adding it..."

We play only with one collection and in the start I get the "Internal Injury basic weakness" that is the only basic injury weakness in the collection (x2) up to the Circle Undone expansion.

Because are not other weakness that fulfill the instruction we decide at first that only one get the weakness, then decide the leader, the leader read (somewhere) that the weakness only are in the "deck of available weakness once" finally no one take it.

What we do in another case like this?

The leader take the weakness?

We can decide who take it?

Can be only one weakness of each on ALL the decks ? (doesn't feels right cause why are then copies..)

No one gains the weakness?

Thanks for the response and don't let the Mythos defeat you!!

Because there are two copies of Internal Injury in the collection, the group chooses two players to gain a copy.

That's not quite correct. You should only use one copy one whole set of basic weaknesses from a single core, and similarly, from one copy full set of any expansions, no matter how many copies of the core/expansion you are using. But some weaknesses come with more than one copy. Those copies should be included. Dunwich comes with two copies of Internal Injury, so there are two in your pool. One is already in a deck, that means one investigator gets the other, and that's it.

Copied from the official FAQ:

How does “searching the collection” for a random basic weakness work? Do I use the same pool of weaknesses I used during deck construction? Or do I search through all of my weaknesses?

Anytime players are instructed to search for a random basic weakness— be it during deck construction, during a scenario’s setup or resolution, or during a scenario itself—players should use the same pool of weaknesses, which is constructed using all of the basic weaknesses from only 1 copy of each product they own. If each investigator has their own collection of cards, they should each use their own pool of weaknesses constructed in the same manner, so as to avoid players’ cards getting mixed together accidentally.

For example: Damon and Kelsy have each constructed decks using Damon’s collection, which consists of 2 copies of the Core Set. During deck construction, they each included 1 random basic weakness from a pool of weaknesses consisting of only the 10 weaknesses in a single copy of the Core Set. This leaves a pool of 8 weaknesses remaining. If they are later instructed to each search the collection for a random basic weakness, these weaknesses would be taken from that remaining pool of 8 weaknesses.

I don’t recall there being any rule that forbids you having 2 Internal Injury weaknesses in your deck

As it is not unique (unlike The Thing That Follows for instance) so you could even have two in play at once, I imagine

Others have given you the answer, but I just wanted to comment that I'm surprised that The Forgotten Age deluxe didn't include any Injury basic weaknesses given that there also aren't any in the Core Set. At the moment, if you don't own The Dunwich Legacy , this line of the resolution has no effect at all and risks confusing the players.

I'm predicting an Injury basic weakness to be included in Return to The Forgotten Age if/when we get it.
