FFG Live Thor/January Releases

By SpiderMana, in Marvel Champions: The Card Game

I want reprints of avengers mansion and helicarrier.

Would like the ability to have 2 of those in each of my 4 decks. Only get 4 each from the core set.

First aid reprints wouldnt be terrible either but really only two of my decks run first aid.

I am sure more "staple" basic card will come out that we will want for multiple decks

Avengers Mansion is in Ms Marvel. There is a space in Thor's deck that a Helicarrier would fit into, but I have no proof that it is there yet.

I expect to end up with many copies of certain cards, such as resources. That's to be expected due to the nature of the game.

But I hope they do a better job with aspect cards. I expect to see many old cards but it would be nice to see several new ones each expansion. It would be great if they limited the ally reprints.

I’m more annoyed by the Mocking Bird Reprint than the Hawkeye one... I can potentially use a second Hawkeye (double Leadership vs Expert Ultron would certainly appreciate an extra copy between them) but a 5th copy of Mocking Bird feels like a lot to me.

To be fair, I’m more than happy with the contents of the Cap pack, even with the reprints. There’s lots of cool new cards in there.

Reprints of Aspect cards probably going to be less frequent in later packs

The other thing with Mockingbird is while it has its place it is not a staple card. You cant say oh this deck NEEDED Mockingbird to function so we had to reprint it.

Now, I saw the Thor player use hammer throw and it's overkill spill onto Goblin. The Thor player was engaged with another minion who had Guard but they said the damage would still go to Goblin. Having trouble finding this in rules. If this is the case, then Relentless assault has been played wrong in my playthroughs.

Guard prevents you making an Attack against the Villain.

Overkill deals damage in excess of a Minion’s health to the Villain - the attack was made vs the Minion though, so Guard doesn’t interact.

I rewatched Thursday's stream focusing on Ms Marvel and Thor's discard pile and here is what I learned:

Ms Marvel

It appears that all of her signatures have now been revealed

I did not see any unrevealed protection cards, but that would mean there is only 10 new prot cards (Tackle, Energy Barrier, Preemptive Strike, Nova). It is possible there is an unrevealed unique card, Michael was very neat with his discards.

There is an 1 cost neutral card called Endurance but he never played it(3 copies). This makes 7 new neutral cards in the pack.

Thor

Pretty sure all signature cards were revealed.

There was an aggression card he played but did not show. Called Get over here, 0 cost, did 1 dmg to a minion and it moved to engage Thor (One of those effects required aerial - 3 copies)
There was another 0 cost aggression card that he did not play (3 copies)

There was a 3 cost neutral cost that was not played (3 copies) and there was a 5 cost neutral ally (could not see the art but safe bet it is Odin)

All of the cards from Captain America pack (that are in the deck) have now been revealed.

In terms of reprints, all of the decks have 5 resource cards, CA had 4 reprints on top, Ms Marvel has Avengers Mansion and X Get Behind me, and Thor had X Chase them down in his deck.

No. With Shrink as expansion card no 1, and Lockaw 18, there's only enough space for 6 distinct protection cards - the 4 new ones, Power and Get Behind Me!.

There's also Card 33, which is a neutral card not in the pre-built deck. We have no idea what it is.

Yep, the only question is how many of each Event card there are - I reckon Hammer Throw gets the 3x, and the other 3 2x, but it's a guess more than anything else.

I'm not entirely convinced by that - firstly, I imagine Odin as a Persona Support rather than an Ally, secondly, I'm pretty sure that the blurred name I saw was longer than 4 letters. My guess further up was Heimdall.

Given that the packs have 59 playable cards +1 STOP/decklist card, Get Behind me! and Chase them down have to be 2x.

Yeah, these reprints are stupid, and really just seem lazy on their part:

--I get the three double-resource cards, those are very strong and seem fine to include extras of.

--The "Power of" cards are honestly not very strong IMO but I guess I could see it, especially in an expensive deck like leadership.

--Make the call is definitely a stretch, I don't see why you "have" to have it, I would've preferred some other event that synergizes with cap's ability, but okay, I see it.

--Why in the name of Asgard are Mockingbird and Hawkeye being reprinted? They are absolutely in no way required to make a deck. That's just horrible, and embarrassing that they lack the creative ability to make a new ally card.

I'm pretty sure he played Defender of the Nine Realm 3 times before shuffling. So I think there are 3 of those, 3 of Hammer Throw, 1 of For Asgard, and 2 of Lightning Strike

Some of my favorite cards, and I’m looking forward to putting them to good use in a double-leadership team-up. And Mockingbird when I inevitably try a 6-player game with my friend group :D Both are excellent allies, and I’m likely to include both in every leadership deck I build for a good while.
