[Empire] Supression

By Whippoorwills, in Army Building

So, I was thinking that supression might be a good way to win, if the opponent can't act or flees the battlefield I'm winning. What do you think?

DF-90 Mortar Trooper (36 + 0 = 36)

DF-90 Mortar Trooper (36 + 0 = 36)

DF-90 Mortar Trooper (36 + 0 = 36)

Imperial Death Troopers (76 + 42 = 118)
--DLT-19D Trooper (34), E-11D Focused Fire Config (8)

TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank (155 + 28 = 183)

Suppression is indeed a good strategy, one that I am a fan of. And your list definitely has plenty of it. But I have a few suggestions:

1. Replace Covert Observation with Ambush. CO can only give an order to an Operative or Special Forces, and your Death Troopers are the only unit you have that fits that criteria, and they get a free order from Krennic every turn for free. I would probably also take Push over Pinned Down, but the tank can take advantage of it, so it's not completely wasted.

2. Drop 1 of the extra Shoretrooper models, and put Comms Relay on all of the Mortars. This can potentially allow you to get faceup orders on all of your Shoretroopers and 1 other unit from only a single order.

3. Drop the other 2 extra Shoretrooper models, and put a medic in one of the units, and Linked Targeting Array on the tank. Medics are extremely valuable when you have DTs, and Linked Targeting Array works well with the Comms Relays on your Mortars to get a free aim token on the tank each round.

4. That leaves you with 5 points, which I would use for Strict Orders on Krennic. But that's just personal preference. If you prefer to have a bid you can leave it off.

If you really want to maximize Suppressive weapons, you could also take a look at Bossk and/or Saboteur Strike Teams, but that would change the list quite a bit.

This is all good info. You will also want to slightly alter your tank build (imo) https://legion-hq.herokuapp.com/list/empire/1avikcz0,3hgfu0000,3ftdp,1bhgohchz,1bdgm0dpdagn0,by,bl,ge,cb,gd,cc,Of,Ob,Oc,Oa,Dd,Db,De,Da,Cb,Ce,Ca,Cd

I will add that Aggressive tactics is a must for all imperial builds that have a command slot. Also, while the RT-97 is slightly better at hitting infantry, the impact gun is better because there is enough armor in the meta now. I would look at adding snipers to this list because 9 activations is on the low side of the meta (about 8 - 12 activations per list, with most competitive lists falling in the 10-11 range.)
