In my game we had a new player join and it changes the plan for my adventure. So now they are going to rescue wookies for mines, owned by a private party. What are some entertaining mine types I can put them in. Mines with explosive gases or materials, or good creatures who live in the mines.

They are force users and around 900 exp so they should be able to handle a lot. Give me some ideas.

Kessel spice mines, energy spiders. Matches up with Wookiees since we see that the Empire sent many Wookiees to Kessel in the Rebels TV show.

Other than that, just watch some old westerns. Every couple of 'em has at least one scene in a mine. The classic Lone Ranger had a couple pretty good ones.

As P47 mentioned, the Kessel mines a quite obvious choice.

If I were you, I'd look for the monster first to hit them, then accomodate him and hint the whole place with some proper environmental factor.

Rancor? Jungle with surface mining for building material, like a stone quarry. Lots of problems getting there, great heights for use of coordination/athletics, annoying jungle creatures and predating beast.

Exogorth? Asteroid mining for precious metals. Obvious environmental hazard, mynocks, patrol crafts, space mines (the explosive ones).

There's an acklay-esque creature in the Long arm of the Hutt, and a cave system for it on Ryloth. You can repurpose that for ryll mining. Killer heat, desert. You can add local twi'lek resistance, bandits more Edge feeling.

What era is your campaign set in?

We are set during the the time similar to Star wars Rebels, so a year or 2 away from Episode 4.

The mines with the strongest plot devices have hearts of Kyber . . .

A recent discovery of this rare crystal will excite a lot of smugglers, bandits, and of course the Empire. And with Jedi on the crew that will hold it's own level of interest.
