Advertising your local group???

By drail14me, in X-Wing

I wanted to check with everyone before reinventing the wheel.

Our local Star Wars group (X-Wing, Armada and Legion) is dead. Only two of us.

We are wanting to advertise to let people know we exist. Word of mouth and game nights at the store have not done much. Plus, not a whole lot of people are even aware we have a game store in town. The store doesn't advertise and it doesn't have good signage on it so people even know what it is. (That's a whole different problem). We are also in a fairly Rural area. Our town has over 50,000 but the closest metropolitan area with a regular X-wing group is almost three hours away.

So, other than a Facebook page and inside store advertising, what have people done to advertise outside the store?

I've just inquired about getting advertising space on screen at our local theater before each showing of Star Wars: TRoS. Waiting to hear back on possibility and cost. If it's possible, and not expensive, then I'm thinking of a short video showing X-Wing, Legion and Armada game play and a slide showing our Facebook page. Has anyone done an advertising video?

How's about trying the Meetup site?

Hi, our group here in Vienna also faces the issue of declining members fom time to time.

What we did/do is joining tournament s and events where we at least See some potential for new players.

For example we joined this years Vienna comic Con again presenting FFGs Star Wars games together with our tabletop club.

There, we had dozens of test games with many nerd affected people as well as Person completely new to this hobby.
