Episode 9 expected viewership: A Poll

Maybe, maybe not. Saw an interview with the cast “show us your face of how you feel about the film.” Anthony Daniels was very telling. Like “what the frak” and then he said “after 40 years, THIS is how it ends?”

I am going in expecting TLJ level nonsense. Hopefully I am wrong.

If I’m not, at least we know. And hopefully Disney learns their lesson and starts making big screen stuff the way they’ve been doing small screen stuff (really enjoying the Mandalorian so far)

The reactions showed a bunch of people who couldn't reveal anything. I thought Anthony Daniels says "how does it end", but he also wrote in his book that Terrio "had clearly steeped himself in the lore of the Saga," writing "a terrific script that seemed heading for a very satisfying conclusion." He ALSO wrote "It all felt so right and so fulfilling," and "Chris and J.J. had gathered in all the threads and tatters of the previous episodes and spun a mystery of their own; a wondrous coup of creative storytelling, a fulfilling and rewarding closure, for everyone."

2 years and you guys can still complain about TLJ?

People still ***** about the Prequels

People still ***** about RotJ Ewoks

Are you really surprised a fanbase keeps ******* about the parts it doesn't like?

Yes, I am capable of errors. Fat thumbs vs small keyboard. Well played

Still, has that movie improved in 2 years?

Already bought my ticket for the 19th! I'm expecting to be disappointed but at least I'll be amongst the first to be disappointed 😁

Gee, I seem to recall something exceptional about all the hate for TLJ.

Hope and schadenfreude. Hope and schadenfreude.

Myself and 3 friends are going opening night... then going the following night because ANOTHER group of friends had a drop out, so I'm filling in :D

Actually yes. The constant debates have highlighted how well made TLJ actually was, and how baseless and hypocritical most of the criticism is.

I've got tickets with my gang for the 18th at 1800 GMT+1 ;)

Lol THAT was NOT intentional 😆 😅 I thought like ten people would poke in, honest. After the years I've been here I don't need it anyway. Was very shocked to see the border around the post three hours after it went up. Definitely not doing that again 🤯 😳

What makes it good? All the past two years of it did for me was make it worse 😕 🤔

I'm not getting into this debate, not anymore. If you really want to find good things about TLJ then you will find a huge amount all over the internet, but also in the offtopic subforum. And if you don't actually want to change your mind then I'm most certainly not going to waste my time in trying.

Was a legit question. With your high praise I was open minded. I never said I didn't think there were some good things in the movie either, let's not take assumptions and all. I liked D.J.s character and story for instance. That was a good angle. But it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of it.

Shenanigans.

I don’t feel the film has gotten any better or any worse from the protracted debates. All it’s exposed to me is one monolith (the defenders) placing everyone who’s not one of them in the same camp and knocking over that scare crow. Just like in politics - and I am sick of seeing politics in fantasy land (intergalactic prequel politics notwithstanding - at least that’s fictional politics not politics about a movie).

It’s almost like the people loudly attacking the new films are in the extreme minority.

Yup. If you all haven’t listened to Ryan Farmer’s rant about how great TLJ was then please do so immediately. It is objectively a great film.

Me too.

I'll go and see it. im expecting it to be an utter car crash but you never know. i figure if i go in expecting the absolute worst, it has to be better than i expected.

To be fair. This is a skewed sample, what with being a high concentration of big fans and all. And on top of that some of the commentary going through here is like "yes I'll see it, but..." If nothing else I thought it was notable that there were any 'not going' results at all. For this sample pool I really wasn't expecting that for the given time frame of first week. I extended it from first weekend to fill week just see if it would catch anything still not expecting it too.

Who? Got a link? Google failed to to find.

Its Star Wars. OF COURSE I'M GOING!!!

I prefer quiet theaters so I will hit a Tuesday or Wednesday matinee after the first week craziness dies down.

So I should let others tell me how to think and feel because my own conclusions from watching the movie apparently aren’t valid?

I would also be curious to take a look at it. Care to share a link?
