::Alex:: (and support) vs. Ready for Anything

By MegaGeese, in UFS Rules Q & A

Ready for Anything

E: Your attack gets +1 speed and +3 damage. Only playable if this attack is preceded by a non-attack card in your card pool.

The new Alex support turns attacks facedown; as an example, there is a card ("Chop") with the static text "After this attack resolves, turn it facedown." After resolving, does the gamestate recall that it was an attack, or is it considered a non-attack card for the purposes of Ready for Anything?

Because it's not a Multiple copy, or anything like that, I'd assume it was a non-attack at that time...

it's just a facedown card, so it's not an attack.

Card Text Ahoy:

Alex%204.jpg Yep. You've finished resolving the effects of your card being played.

If Alex uses his effect to turn an attack face down and you used an effect on the attack which states something like "while this attack is in your card pool ..." are you still able to use the effects of the card while it is face down? This came up in our Pre-releaseand I figured you would still get the effect of the ability since the card is still in the card pool just face down.

Just wanted to get other peoples thoughts on it.

The card will lose memory of what it is once it turns facedown, so you will lose the effect.

Hum! Related question!

If a player uses Alex's enhance on a multiple copy, which is already a facedown card, what will happen? Is it safe to assume that the attack will go "facedown", and lose its memory of being an attack? And if so, will it lose its memory of being a multiple copy (and could then, theoretically be added to momentum)?

to answer your question, goose, i will ask you a few questions of my own:

can you ready a ready card?
can you commit a committed card?

...lastly, can you turn a face-down attack face-down?

Actually, going back to Ibis Minuet, I'd argue you may not Ibis a card you turned facedown with Alex's ability.

Notice: Ibis says "after you PLAY a card and resolve ITS effects, discard IT from your card pool".

Once you turn the card facedown, since the card loses memory of what it was, it is no longer the card you played, it's just a facedown card, so if you were to respond to Ibis after resolving the attack, the IT is no longer present.

:P

These last two posts nonetheless make me a sad panda. At least I still have Raw Talent to clear my pool, and it works fine. It does still work fine right? RIGHT!?

Referring more to the static text on Chop, but valid point is valid =/

Interesting point on Ibis, Tag. I love how technical and complicated the rules are from time to time. Makes things fun =D
